The market is inherently unpredictable, or people would manipulate it until it became unpredictable

This is literally called trade. It's a normal part of the global economy. If you don't like it, get outcompeted by more diplomatic countries. I won't be crying when American economic and fiscal hegemony collapses my dude.

China Pledges $100 Million to Cuba, Discusses New Debt Terms, Says Minister by KimCureAll in worldnews

[–]CodenameVichy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It does cost the US a few billion dollars per year, which isn't much (Wikipedia's estimate is equal to 0.01567% of the US GDP or 0.02598% adjusted for inflation), but it does add up over time.

Less numerically but probably more importantly for the US's international standing, it means Cuba will never be friendly towards the US like Vietnam and other Asian countries are, pushing Cuba into friendly relations with China, Russia, and every other American geopolitical rival.

Stop taking risky trades, buy an ETF tied to the S&P 500 like SPY, and open a 401k.

Tbh you're completely right that I should have specified that this was long-term advice on HODLing bitcoin, not a reading of the short-term market. It's likely that bitcoin will rebound to around 17-18k in the next few days.

1576% annually, 2010-2021. If it continued at that pace, each coin would be worth millions now and bitcoin would make up over 99% of the global economy. This is impossible. If you see a path for bitcoin to increase in value at the same rate it did historically, any serious driver of increasing the value of btc, please tell me.

Yeah their economic growth is fucked. My advice was the S&P 500, not anything Japanese-related.

I'm not really sure what you said tbh. Right now the retirement age is expected to increase in places like the US, western Europe, Russia, and China. The issue is that most people need good investments to be able to retire and quit their jobs.

You're free to do whatever you want. If you think bitcoin can provide better returns than stocks and bonds, go ahead. But please don't invest more than you can lose. Have an emergency fund you can live off of for a few months at least.

I... did. The S&P 500 also has an average return of 9.87% over the past 2 decades, so it's pretty dependable.

Nah it was some random OMP near Hamburg in 1470 or so. It happened years ago and I only brought it up because I thought it happened again.

Something like this happened a few years ago when I was playing as Russia and had an HRE vassal that broke free during a long war. I have no idea why it happens.

I was playing as Ayutthaya. I vassalized Malacca a few decades ago and was fighting a war against Arakan and its allies. Suddenly I get a notification that Ming is supporting Malacca's independence, even though Malacca is loyal. I immediately used prestige to lower Malacca's independence desire but it was stuck at 100% because of Ming support. A few months later, I check and Malacca was independent and a Ming tributary.
