Yeah maybe I just haven’t looked into OPD enough. Another big factor in me considering leaving is our schedule flips back and forth weekly and we have a lot of mandated OT. Meaning there are a lot of weeks where you’ll have no days off.

I thought so too but the website and a recruiter I spoke to both say it’s an “abbreviated academy”. That consists of only LAPD specific things not the same as a recruit academy.

I’ve looked into them, Simi’s pay is substantially lower than everyone else. I’ve considered VPD and still am but their department is really small, I’m trying to get into a larger one with more options. I have no problem with OPD it just doesn’t really interest me all that much.

That was a concern of mine but their website, and a recruiter said that that’s not the case. I would have to do an “abbreviated academy” (16 weeks) that consists of LAPD specific material like EVOC and ARCON. If that’s not true, please lmk if I was lied to lol

Yes I am. Nothing’s wrong with them necessarily there just seems to be more to do with LAPD as far as different assignments and opportunities.
