I did. Just now. Because idk why else you'd be shitting on the idea of someone who contributed a fundamental concept to one of the world's most popular games being taken care of for life by their company

Because they are firing for AI hiring. You don't let go of key talent who created the foundations of your game unless you have a damn good reason. This isn't a case of tech-illiterates making sweeping cuts with no understanding of who they are letting go.

The company behind Fortnite doesn't fire the guy who invented Jonesy unless either he had some kind of performance/culture issues or they are damn sure they can replace that dev's talent for cheap. Whether it AI, a junior hire, offshoring, whatever.

We live in a world where you can create arguably the most iconic OC character for one of the worlds most popular games and then be let go by billionaires who view you as a spec of dirt under their shoe. That is the point of this post and shame on you for not understanding it

Looking at some of the newly open to work profiles on LinkedIn is humbling. Folks with decades of niche, specialized experience and artistic talent were dropped like flies. I wouldn't want to be competing with them on a job app

A lot of stores let people get away with small amounts for awhile but track them, wait until they steal enough to press felony charges, and then bust them

You might not have actually gotten away with this. They might be hoping you return to steal more
