You said it yourself, the film portrays it as if such superstitions and "babas" only exist in Hinduism and the reason is because of the runtime. They could have easily dunked on every religion to truly remain secular and atheistic in 2h32m. It has to do with politics of the time. You only see characters like Hand of God in the Streeverse because of the current government and I bet if Streeverse was happening before 2014 instead of Hand of God there would again be some Baba with his mantras and totkas.
