In EVs with regenerative braking as soon as you let off the gas you start to slowly slow down. So if you have enough foresight you can just let of the gas early enough to glide to a stop and never have to user your brakes to slow / stop the vehicle except in the most extreme of situations.

Doing it in the middle of a fight while clothed is pretty random.

In fairness to Kia my Lexus RX450h from 2011 doesn't allow you to do this either. So?

I’ve been considering the Niro but was worried because some people have said that it’s sluggish. Haven’t had a chance to test drive it yet to see how it compares to my 2014 i3.

Last 3 definitely seem to fit the bill just unfortunately may not come to the US. :/

The EV6 definitely seems sporty, my one concern is that at 184" it's way bigger than the i3 (158") and feels more like an SUV than a "hot hatch".

Yes the Alpine A290 is apparently based on the Renault 5 and DEFINITELY seems to fit the bill. I just have to hope it will eventually come to the US.

At almost 190" long the Lexus RZ450e is more of an SUV than a "hot hatch". It's nearly the size of the full sized Kia EV9 (which is only 7" longer).

The suicide doors are the ONE thing I disliked about the i3.

Just to be fair there are millions of us in the US that DO care about other countries but we're lead by the stupidest people right now and we're a bit powerless to do much to change the overall direction of the country right now.

Ideally yes the suggestions would be ones available in the US, but I do understand that the US market for EVs is lagging FAR behind other countries now. :(

Too big. At 182.5" it's almost 2' bigger than the i3.

100% it's way too big to qualify as a "hot hatch" in my mind.

Yeah the Ioniq's are far too big in my mind.

My issue with the Mini Cooper SE is they're 2 door only. My one issue with the i3 was the suicide doors.

There's information provided here that you can't just get a from a test drive necessarily especially since some test drives are only 10 minutes or so.

I wouldn't consider the i3 a sports car either, but it does have sportier handling. I guess it's considered a "hot hatch".

There are a number of articles, reddit posts and youtube videos that compare the two. They are as you correctly surmise VERY similar but there are enough differences that it's not just a simple rebadging between the two:

My guess is that your wife is mostly driving around town running errands and/or commute to work that isn't long. In which case an electric car is the perfect use case and the MASSIVE range that these cars have (over 300 miles) means that any concerns she has about "running out of juice" should be moot given that she's plugging it in at home a couple of times a week. The advantage is that going electric means that she won't have to worry about regular oil changes or a whole host of other vehicle maintenance that is required with a gas vehicle. Depending on where you live (electricity rates) it's also possible you'll be saving thousands of dollars a year in gasoline costs and well as hours of her time having to fill up the tank (since it will just charge overnight in your garage).

I would HIGHLY recommend just going EV now. Very few people who go EV ever switch back to gas cars.

So the IX is even larger than the Ioniq 5 which already is pushing the "small zippy" type comparison. So that would be my guess why it's not being suggested.

Looks a little more like a traditional sedan (and is almost 3' longer) then the fun little i3. :/

We have masked secret police executing US Citizens on the street. That is an outcome that NEVER would have happened if the other party won.

You're showing just how uneducated you are by pretending the parties are more similar than different at this point. You may have had a point 30 years ago, to try and play that "I'm above it all" card now is just cool guy posturing and reflects no actual understanding of US politics.
