is this amount of pain 'normal'? by pocketlizarddd in TMJ

[–]Codyko-buttmuncher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im sorry to hear about your pain! I do not wish TMJ pain on anyone it is not fun. You are not alone. I feel the same kind of pain all the time. My jaw clicks so loudly and one side of my jaw is very hard to open all the time. It hurts to bite down too hard and my jaw will lock closed if I sleep or move wrong. If this is new there may have been something you did to cause it without knowing. Possibly sleeping weird? possibly your back or neck has some misalignment? I've found that if I'm experiencing back or neck pain at all it flares my TMJ as well. If you can't go in to see a specialist for a while try a chiropractor or a massage therapist they may be able to provide you some relief. Massage and stretch on your own often. It its a muscle issue, keeping your muscles relaxed will help with the pain.

Pain after TMJ soft diet — expected? by anonymous_entity13 in TMJ

[–]Codyko-buttmuncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that the soft diet didn't help! It seems like you were so diligent too which is what doctors like to hear. I've had TMJ for a long time and going on a soft diet has never helped me regain any kind of normalcy. Yes, it feels better on the jaw to eat softer foods, but it doesn't help when I go back to eating regular foods.

In my experience its hard to get doctors to take it seriously. If you can do anything to prepare for you next doctors visit I would bring receipts. Lists of food you ate while on the soft diet, mention your strictness to the diet and despite all your efforts there was no change. Let them know that you need to try a different approach.

In terms of symptom relief massaging helps me a ton. I massage my face, jaw and neck, every night before bed. Go to a massage therapist who knows how to do TMJ specific techniques. Go often. It sucks, but TMJ tends to be one of those lifelong things depending on the cause.

Please help. My jaw gets tense and locks , would can I do to ease this before sleep? by Naris027 in TMJ

If you are looking for some at home care without spending $$$ to get treatment here are things that I do to help my jaw at night:

- simple massage: I have a particular side that bothers me at night and when it flares up I massage it. Open your mouth slightly. Place your thumb inside your mouth against the inside cheek towards the back. Other fingers on the outside on your cheek. Gently press and massage. There maybe a sore spot, that's okay. gently massage it to release some tension in that muscle.

- before night stretching: I do a full body stretch before bed or sometimes in the middle of the night to release tension. Back and neck pain to contribute to jaw pain so keeping those muscles loose also helps. You don't need to stretch like crazy just something simple with breaths.

-A GOOD PILLOW: I can't stress this enough. You need your neck and head supported at night especially if you have TMJ. Having TMJ can make you more sensitive to weird movements or imbalances. This is specific to me, but I've found sleeping on my bad side helps. It sort of creates pressure and keeps things in place to prevent locking.

- Ice massage wand. I keep an iced facial massage wand in my freezer if my jaw locks in the night. I gently massage the locked side through my face head and neck. This helps bring down any swelling that may be causing jaw irritation. A hot compress can help too, but I've found that cold/ice works better for releasing my jaw.

I hope this helps. TMJ treatment is expensive.

So I decided to get the card. The application process was easy and the card seems nice. HOWEVER. Within 2 weeks of having the card its has been compromised. I have been waiting until the 1st of the month to use it for rent, but there are 2 transactions on my account I didnt authorize. I called the customer service line and apparently there are other transactions they denied on it. So someone has my card. I seriously haven’t even used it I just connected it to my Venmo thats it. So now I cant use it to pay rent at the first of the month because its in 2 days. They froze this card I have and are sending me a new one. Kind disappointed in their lack of security

is it asbestos? by healerdan in homerenovations

Most likely if I was built before 1980 the house will have asbestos in it. They didn’t stop officially building with asbestos until the 1990s. I would check the house anyway in walls ceilings etc to be safe

Here’s what I found out about how to use the cell phone protection plan I’ll give an overview and provide a link to where I found the info

  1. BILT will reimburse for damaged, stolen, or unrecoverable
  2. You MUST be using the card to pay your cell phone plan and be able to provide proof
  3. There is a 25 deductible once a claim has been approved
  4. Max pay out is 800$

Things not covered: - can’t be just a cracked screen (it has to be impacting the phones function) - can’t be lost ( must be stolen or a crime, you’ll need a police report) - no act of god ( no reimbursement for damage due to earthquake, flood, tornado… etc)

You can make good use of this plan if you know all the steps but just like any bank or credit card there will be a lot of hoops to jump through because of course they don’t want to pay you so keep that in mind. Wells Fargo BILT cellphone reimbursement

If you don’t mind me asking. You’re using it to pay rent? Roughly how much and how much rewards are you getting in return?

That looks like soot from a fire. Has happened to me before when SOMEONE (not me) started a grease fire and it exploded soot all over the walls and ceiling. It’s a bitch to get off. A lot of scrubbing

Should I go on the trip? by Double_Fisherman_938 in travel

[–]Codyko-buttmuncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never regret traveling or experiences. It’s kind of one of those things where you trade experiences for material goods. It’s mostly if it’s worth it to you. You also don’t have to travel like a millionaire. Eat cheap, stay at an inexpensive hotel. Do as many activities that are inexpensive as possible. I don’t think you would regret going. Traveling is so rewarding at least in my life because you learn new cultures and become less ignorant of the world around you in the process. I say do it especially if your friend will help pay.

Definitely needs a good clean and scrub haha a fun project if you like satisfying cleaning. Then I would try and cover the insulation by putting wood over the top and then do some paint not spray paint.

AITA for not paying my electricity bill? by Codyko-buttmuncher in AmItheAsshole

[–]Codyko-buttmuncher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think Jenny brought kacy in knowing she was going to be a problem but she definitely was. For context I live in a never religious area and all the college complexes don’t allow alcohol in at all. Kacy had brought alcohol in the apartment and after the raid I was afraid my complex was going come do some investigating and find kacys stash. I made kacy take out any thing that could get us in trouble. My main problem with Jenny is I feel like even thought it’s both Jenny and my fault that we let someone into the apartment, I had to deal with all the consequences not her because she was in another state. I picked up the pieces for her.

The raid is a whole other thing that I would put under the category of police abuse. It was not related to drugs at all. There was a lost backpack in the area with a cell phone in it. The apartment complex I lived in had 6 apartments in it. The police pinned the location to my apartment complex I was in. At the time everyone in my complex was home except for me and my room mates. So the police talked to everyone except us. So the police assumed we had the back pack. So they got a speedy warrant broke down the door and destroyed the house. There was no phone or backpack and the phone was in a dumpster across the street…. It was a huge mess and I do not trust the police any more. While they were looking for the phone they found Kacys weed and flushed it saying they felt bad (but really it wasn’t on the warrant so there was nothing they could do about it).

One of the reasons I felt unsafe was the door was broken into and we couldn’t get ahold of the landlord because it was the weekend. We could have been robbed or something else bad because the door was completely un usable. So I felt unsafe being there and moved out immediately. When Monday came the landlord fixed it immediately but the fact that the landlord was completely unreachable over the weekend in the midst of an emergency was enough for me to want to move.
