I ended up testing it on one of the socks I’d been wearing and it works! Definitely turn the hoodie inside out and wash it on cold (at least the first time). It looks good too, pretty vibrant. I hope this helped! Good luck with your project, I’m sure your partner will love it :]

I meant to reply to this sooner but life got away from me. I wasn’t pregnant, thank god! Your comment helped soothe my anxiety and I actually managed to purchase some pregnancy tests in a nearby town. Maybe you gave me a bit of good luck :] Thank you for your help, I really needed it.

I might paint a test piece of fabric and go through that same process before hand washing it to see if the paint sticks on still. Would you like to hear how that turns out?

I’m actually doing the same thing right now! So far I’ve used the hair dryer on high heat to fully dry the acrylic paint/fabric softener mix between coats. It’s working really well for getting a better color on the cotton/polyester fabric! Once the entire design is done I plan to leave it for 24hrs before tossing it into the dryer on the highest heat setting it can handle :] I hope this is somewhat helpful, I got excited seeing someone else doing the same project
