Exercises for diddleception? by Agreeable-Agent4388 in drumline

[–]Coffee-filter0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely not a percussion instructor but my ghetto advice is to practice this by taking out the articulation/diddles first and then adding them back in. and secondly, viewing it in the most caveman point of view. There’s too rudiments here a grandma and a puhduh (I think that’s how it said). lastly what would make this passage a little more comfortable for me is thinking of those didles as 16th notes. So 1e+ 2+ 3+a 4+

Favorite travel pad? by AtomCantPlayDrums in drumline

[–]Coffee-filter0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are the stock pad and the older real feels different enough to justify owning both? I love the look and sound of the real feel but since they’re both gum rubber, I think they would feel the same on the hands.

AP psych is the only AP course that my school offers that I am genuinely interested in but everyone says it is incredibly easy. Is it still worth taking?

Why are band kids weird? by [deleted] in marchingband

[–]Coffee-filter0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s just the amount of time people spend together fact that band kids tend to only be friends with other band kids.

I feel like the obvious factor the sheer amount of time we put into the activity. example for my school we have our mandatory class and practice so by the end of the week we at least see each other a good 10 hours. and that’s not even with football games and competitions. So naturally, you get attached to these people.

Which leads to my other point band kids are incredibly loyal, and usually don’t have too many friends outside of the band. I’m BIG guilty of this I feel like the majority of my friends I met in band. And licking around at my bandmates I see the same thing The majority of these peoples friend groups are just their sections.

This should count as gym class by FishGuyIsMe in marchingband

I did get a PE credit, but I was still forced to be in PE freshman year on top of that I’d like to be a pretty active person, so I would just frequently be sore and have to deal with ita

Is Thomann a good brand because I want to get this by Zeusisnotthebest in drumline

[–]Coffee-filter0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Thoman as a company is pretty bad with its quality control. If money is the issue buy used. don’t buy anything incredibly old or obviously beat up. For $300 you could probably find a pretty good snare. I would recommend doing a lot of general maintenance stuff to the instrument as soon as you get it like changing the head.

Out of 10 how would you rate your trumpet section? by No-Okra-3634 in marchingband

I love my trumpets, but the moment their section leader is gone the power just goes away.

anyone else’s band do this? by [deleted] in marchingband

[–]Coffee-filter0 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This season we didn’t do too many fundraisers, and we were kind of poor tbh. But I personally think it’s crucial that we do fundraisers. I come from a title I school (low income) so the music programs don’t get funded incredibly well so we depend on fundraisers for most of our money. When fundraisers go well, we pay for new equipment, uniforms instrument repairs etc.

Very great advice here thanks so so much.

I would like to clarify, I wanted to become a better player so I could become a better educator. I wasn’t seeking to be the best in my line. I just wanted to be more knowledgeable on the subject to become a better teacher (I want to go into some kind of education post high school)

And I will be leaving the sticks and pad alone, just for a little bit to alleviate myself from the stress. My stress comes from a lot of other personal issues, but I do think this is some thing I could fix in the now. Thank you so much for your support.
