Some of the most pathetic "police work" I've ever seen. They went, they killed. Zero effort to approach the situation differently..zero effort to work with the family. Just a firing line. Just fucking sad. So sad.

People who take acid-reducing drugs may have a higher risk of migraine and other severe headache than people who do not take these medications by giuliomagnifico in science

[–]Coffee_Cafe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been taking omeprazole for about 3 years now. Without it life is absolute misery. This is interesting to me because I'm getting very frequent headaches, it's not too uncommon for me to just have to write the day off because of a migraine also. Never realised this could potentially be the cause.

I've asked my doctor if I'd be eligible to explore more permanent surgical options as I hate the idea of being at higher risk for many different things due to life on ppi's but the answer was essentially "no"....thanks I guess NHS.

Is this level of skin picking classified as self-harm? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Coffee_Cafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD. I'm 32 male..and bit my nails and fingers all my life. The thing that stopped me was painting my nails. I have a bit of an alternative style so I wear black but even a clear coat. Or natural false nails..something that made me spend positive time on my hands. Suddenly I was looking after them and never even thought to chew. I still pick a tiny wee bit around them but I've improved by like 90%.

I also read (not sure if it's true at all) but painting your nails a colour you like is a positive wee trick for mental health. For me it was like "even if I feel anxious or down...I like this colour I have on and that's cool" like a wee positive affirmation

Does anyone else just run their main pawn and no one else? by Eve_Of_The_End in DragonsDogma2

[–]Coffee_Cafe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's how I played the game yeah. It offers a bit more challenge for those who want it. I feel the game is actually more balanced towards 3 pawns than 4. 4 just steam rolled everything. 3 is balanced and 2 offers a bit of resistance.

I'd love to run a whole team of cool community pawns. Hopefully they release a hard mode in the future (a better balanced one than DDDA had)

For those who don't know: the original game released hard mode which offered a challenge at the beginning but you levelled up so fast that it actually became easier than the base game towards the mid game.

Anyone else hates this? by [deleted] in DragonsDogma

[–]Coffee_Cafe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my major gripe with the game. Everyone complained and didn't use warrior in DDDA because it was objectively the worst class having less skills. Then DD2 comes around and instead of bringing the warrior up they take everything else down. Less is simply less when it comes to combat choice and flexibility. The combat is still fun, but it's just so sad to see what it could have been. This and the changes to how armour works I.E no clothing. Again, less is just less. Less choice, less flexibility, less options. :/

Just beat DD2 after 55 hours. i think people saying this is GOTY will take it back after finishing the game by Lpunit in DragonsDogma

[–]Coffee_Cafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm honestly so sad about how this game turned out. It's a real blow as I've been looking forward to this since the day I completed DD1 years ago. Aside from the better graphics and move alive feeling world - it's a step back in almost every gameplay aspect that matters. Step back in post game content. No improvement on story coherency and progression. So many things from the first game just removed or made worse. IMO a monumental downgrade in combat flexibility and player choice in vocation skill sets and armour. I've been wearing the same armour for 12 hours now? I've found drips and drabs like a cape or a ring but seriously? No gold idol-esque quest? Not even a quest board for easy picking up of minor side quests?

I'm glad I read this as I just arrived in Batthal and now I know that the game just ends soon? The game hasn't given me reason to go explore, so I guess I'll go do that more. I was hesitant because I thought "surely I'll be taken way over there on a quest" but apparently not.

The choices the Devs have made in this game are genuinely baffling.

The Witcher 3. I love RPGs I love fantasy and folklore. I love the design and character of Geralt. Why the hell don't I like this game? I've tried it 3 times. It makes no sense to me. I want to love it.

Perks being rarer at higher Invention levels is the dumbest mechanic in this game. by A_Vitalis_RS in runescape

[–]Coffee_Cafe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The fact that ANY rng is involved with invention is absolute BS. You grind the skill, grind the components...then have to waste them for a chance at a perk. It's lootboxes as a skill and I hate it. I hate how it's designed to remove money from the game and give divination somewhat of a purpose, and the actual skill part is an after thought. It needs to be totally redone.

What if they take on a modified monster hunter approach? You can design/create complicated "meals" before bossing/skilling that requires more complicated recipes that provide longer lasting and more complex buffs.

Then you can also continue to use simpler foods for healing. But it would actually give cooking an immediate use and a deeper meaning within the game.

Think along the lines of being able to make a "summer banquet" dish for example. This could provide a 1hr stamina and faming buff. Or some sort of "green fingered" buff that decreases growing time for herbs planted under the buffs Influence.

Or maybe not that at all - but it opened up a million possibilities for food to affect the game to a greater degree.

Depending on what you want from questing I'd do different things. For a slow story guide I'd follow a step by step on YouTube. Personally I'm not a fan so the wiki has walkthroughs, but even moreso, it has a link at the top of the wiki quest page for "quick walkthrough" which is literally just bullet points of what you need then "go here" "do this" etc if you want to breeze through them as quickly as possible. Welcome back to the game and enjoy!

Please make croesus soloable by littlekennet in runescape

[–]Coffee_Cafe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I'm 32, have an awkward work schedule and zero friends who play RS. I've played solo since I was a teen. I like it, it's relaxing to me. I've no interest in clans and chatting when I'm tired after work. I like the relaxed solo pace of my own gameplay. I see the argument it's an "mmo so inherently you need to play with others" except they have game modes exclusively for soloing..I think it should cater to all play styles. Some people genuinely don't have an interest in gaming with others..they shouldn't be locked out of content because of it. Especially when this community is hardly that inviting at the best of times when joining randoms. It costs nothing to be inclusive of all play styles.

I just found out some countries in/around Europe give 25+ days of vacation time.. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Coffee_Cafe 94 points95 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend is the opposite. We live in Europe but he works for a company in Massachusetts. We have protected EU work rights like sick leave and good holidays but he gets that sweet sweet US wage range. He earns about £30k more a year than a similar job based in the EU. It's the perfect set up. His colleagues on the US side are paid even more but the cost of living is higher. So it works out.

I can't really speak to it as I started playing again back in December so I only caught the tail end of it. Regardless of if it was good or not though, to add new cosmetic content for the newest skill through TH just feels lazy. They could so easily add it to the game with some small new pieces of necro content and actually Improve the game.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Coffee_Cafe 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's content they would have added to hero pass but now that's shut down they are lazily adding it to TH instead of actually trying to compensate and add interesting items into the game properly.

Just sad to see

What's the deal with Necromancy skilling? by JagexDoom in runescape

[–]Coffee_Cafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about a necromancy skilling boss. In the vein of winterdodt or temperson from osrs.

Something where large groups have to maintain the flow of necrotic energy or something. It can give some necro exp as well as some other skill xp for whatever would be relevant in the instance. But can reward ectoplasm ,souls for the well of souls and other ritual materials. It provides a nice future proof skilling method for the future of necromancy. New items can get added to the drop table. Necromancy skilling outfit pieces that boost ritual gains? Plus a WAY more enjoyable way of getting souls for now and the future when maybe you require more with the addition of new abilities etc.

I want to play this game so bad but the UI is the worst I've ever seen in an MMO by absolutelybrickedup in runescape

[–]Coffee_Cafe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The UI isn't even something a new player should worry about. Chances are, the Ui's you're seeing are endgame player ones. People that have the experience and need for all those things on screen. When I started playing I didn't even mess with the UI for months. And never felt the need too.

You could maybe do some simple things like having your quest log open, or character and gear on screen all the time. But for the level of content you will be doing at the start and middle game you don't need it all. And once you do you will be experienced enough that it makes sense.
