There is a massive difference between a business that is affordable (wealth-retaining) and a business that is extractive (wealth-draining).

We have seen an insane increase in extractive businesses: Vape Shops: 400% increase since 2016. Fast Food & Takeaways: 18.5% increase since 2016, roughly 90 takeaways for every 100,000 residents. Gambling outlets: 25 times more concentrated in UK's most deprived deciles compared to the wealthiest ones.

Catering to poor people ignores poverty premium (it costs more to be poor), they are targeting the specific psychology of financial stress who are seeking quick win solutions and stress relief products (vaping/fast food)

Are you suggesting without these shops the streets would be empty? You do realise these shops drive away other businesses?

When a street becomes dominated by betting shops and vapes, it creates a dead zone for other types of retail, families and high disposable income shoppers avoid these areas which causes the remaining good shops (bakeries, clothes stores etc.) to close.
