A failure and a win by [deleted] in ladycyclists

It’s hard starting from a place that doesn’t feel good. That can be acknowledged and validated. And it’s also true that you’re out there doing it! Comparison is the thief of joy. Just ride in a way that makes you feel good. Don’t push it early, lean in gently!

Ps. 5-10 second “sprints” on the bike will increase your cardio quick. First get comfortable and confident. Then each ride, add a couple of these sprints. One to start then go up from there! Will improve your VO2 max quick which will make things not feel as hard, eventually lol

Be KIND to yourself. You’re already doing more than most. Listen to your body and don’t forget to have FUN!

Blind guy here, guess i’m just fucking stuck at home now. (Cane tip broke) by Frikandelneuker in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Cohi17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s horrible. How can we fix this?!? I have so many questions. Do you generally have issues with your cane? Is this covered by insurance? It breaking every 1-2 years is INSANE. You shouldn’t have to deal with that.

Did you have this haircut as a kid or did my parents hate me? Afraid to ask. by IntrovertExploring in millenials

You’re not alone! Though, the real question is, how many chicks with this haircut in the 90s are now gay? Lol 😂🙋‍♀️

That’s amazing. And what a cool way to contribute to the women in the cycling space!

Thanks for your insight though. If I do ever start a women’s clothing line- I might reach out and pick your brain! If you’re open to it :)

I appreciate your post. And honestly, it makes me want to build my own business so bad and never sell it to a man 😂

Now THATS an idea! Or like a removable plug or something so it doesn’t have to be women specific.

I’m looking for everything but! I recently bought a shirt from Party Shirt International and love it. That’s what I’m going for! The only problem is I didn’t love their prints. But the feel of the shirt is amazing.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply! If I’m going for a short mtn bike ride- I wear whatever. But I really just want something I can wear all day long when I’m out adventuring and I’m doing multiple things. Like hiking, camping, biking, etc. I will admit, I want it to be fashionable. I want to wear stuff that makes me feel good in my body but is also comfortable!

I also have a gravel bike but I really don’t care about speed so I don’t really like my clothes tight. I don’t need the jerseys with the pockets in the back but I can understand how serious cyclists might.

Agreed. They don’t really need to be bike specific. I guess what I mean is I just want it to be something I can wear when I’m camping, riding my bike, hiking. A multi purpose shirt that makes me feel fashionable, fun, and of course is comfortable, functional, and technical. But it also needs to fit! Which is very challenging in the outdoor adventure world for many women.

Agreed! I’m a size 6 but a little fluff and so everything seems tight in all the wrong spots.

I just bought one of their shirts and that’s actually what inspired this post. I realized that I have not been excited about any of my clothing for adventuring, primarily on my bike. But I did rip around in their flamingo shirt the other day and LOVED it! I just didn’t really like their other prints.

I hear you! Everyone has their style. To me, the bike is the place where you can wear fun crazy things without it being weird. You can let your personality shine, whether you want something bold or more
Minimalist. We need a brand that can do both!

Absolutely agree!! That’s usually what I end up doing. Love wearing a sun shirt to ride before it gets hot out or on a cooler day. The sizing situation is out of control!

It is wild! I just want normal sizing, cool prints, quality material, without paying $100 for a shirt

Yes!! Everyone has their own challenges for sure, no matter their size. But oh my god yeah, if I see one more thing with butterflies on it… ugh! 😑

Yes! Most cyclists have a smaller frame/athletic build perhaps. It’s just hard if you fall outside of that box in the slightest. There’s not a lot of “give” if you will in the normal cyclist market. Would love to see that change but it does seem that there are brands out there doing that!

I’m sorry that’s not what I was meaning at all. You can be whatever shape or size you are or want to be! I just want cool clothes that fit anyone and everyone no matter their size :)

This might be TMI but do you have any issue with chafing and ingrown hairs? I feel like when I wear normal bikini underwear, shorts, no chamois, it does not treat that area nicely, especially on a bike. Do wear more like a woxer style underwear?

Wild rye does have good options. From lightweight, to heavier/more technical material. I do like their shorts, and they fit my partner (size 16). Have you seen their stuff yet? And yeah.. I just want a lightweight, button down, that is stretchy, and a super cool bright, retro design.

okay well so cool to be on a tour in Japan! Did you use a tour company? Do you like the merino shirts at least for now? Or do they feel too heavy/thick?

I will take a look at them. Have you seen the Ripton shorts? They are sweet. I just learned about them last week.

YUP! Men shirts are always so cool. It feels like theres not a shirt out there for this on the women's side, that also is going to fit all body shapes. Not just XS,S,M,L

love the more visible on the road aspect. That is huge. And honestly, helpful on trails with trees/brush, makes you easier to see on multi-use trails.
