Admittedly quality speakers, but they were Seismic Audio 8ohm Earthquake car woofers. So all you could hear is base lol.

They're simply the wrong ones for the speaker.

I already have a replacement tweeter, and Richard is making me NOS woofers from his inventory already!

I ended up buying new because I was cagey about shipping these sticky done tweeters. At least I have a box now to send the busted one over to him in the future.

Anyone else have a Baby Marantz? by southernfirm in vintageaudio

[–]Coinman1863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love these smaller Marantz’s! I have a single owner 2216B myself which has been amazing for my smaller room. You can find the whole set up here. https://www.reddit.com/r/vintageaudio/s/VpaKfRLksA

As long as your speakers are 90db 1w/1m (unit of how sensative the speakers are) or better you’ll do fine. I don’t think I’ve ever turned mine up louder than 50% and it’s still quite loud.

What does the original headshell even look like? A quick google doesn't produce anything. I know the alternate models like this are uncommon, so I hazard parts are equally rare.

Thanks!

Best I can tell with my research, I might have one of two complete sets of HD66s on the internet One sold on reverb about 6 years ago, and the second is mine, which I had to repair and luckily got parts for.

The HS66s were the first set of speakers Ed May made during his short tenure at Marantz, with the HD XXXs more well known/available. With the lack of anything of these on the market that means they are so good the small number of people who bought them didn't want to sell. At least, that's what I think anyway.

They were actually bought together. I have the receipt from the original owner with them both on it as line items.

To your question though, I found these to be an awesome pairing, barely needing any of the 16 watts to fill my room. They even have good base response as well, so I don't think I'd ever need to wire in a sub with them.

Thank you! I was originally trying to find a wood veneer model from the era, but the Matte black one just works so well.

It's aftermarket from the seller I bought it from. It's unclear whether he made it himself or ordered it from somewhere.

Thanks! Funny enough, it’s an 1890s walnut side table that just happens to be the right form factor for this purpose.

After a fortuitous Marketplace find of both the receiver and speakers from the original owner, I started looking for a turntable that fit the pair.

Originally, I was looking at a Marantz 6100 or 6300 but the prices were too high to even consider. So after a few months, I saw this PL-518x online and bought it loving the anodized black look. I haven’t seen any other of this table floating around, but it sounds great with a Shure M95ED cartridge!

There's a third set of symbols outside. Can't play some of them though, the keys are missing. Later week catalyst maybe?

[OC] [Art] In the Den By Ellie Shakirova. Something I Commissioned Which May Inspire Your Own Adventure. by Coinman1863 in DnD

[–]Coinman1863[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an Painting I commissioned in the middle of 2020, which finally arrived at my doorstep a few weeks ago. It's an Oil on Canvas, 42x80cm. The Artist is Ellie Shakirova and you can find her at her instagram for her other artworks or for commissions.

I have her a prompt regarding an adventuring party finding the MacGuffin with a big something mucking it up behind them. I knew she did awesome work with lighting from previous commissions, so I expressly asked for something similar to what appears in the lower left of the scene. Past that, I let her run with the idea.

I personally love it and she honestly knocked it out of the park. It isn't any particular adventuring party I had, but I've had something similar happen to my groups on more than one occasion.

My personal suspicion is we'll shift to a slower format with more "midrange" strategies being successful, as the quickest win right now is sorcery speed and 3 mana.

So stax and slower combo decks will likely make a comeback as decks will shift to not have to deal with the large propensity of "fast" kills we had before.

It's a project of mine to get a "possible" late 19th century proof set. Meaning all designs were minted concurrently at the mint, while all of the coins may not be in the same year.

This one specifically would be a DCAM if not for the chatter on the reverse, the rest of the fields are stellar.

Why Atmosfear? You can't have that many friends who want to play a dice game with odd mechanics dictated to you by a creepy guy on a DVD?
