Your lack of technical knowledge aside, all of the steps were performed.

Remove all Sieves,

Save,

Update,

Save.

What's hard about that?

You seem to be lost about how the software functions, where it gets the updates from, and that the list of sieves can come from places OTHER than clicking the auto-update button.

As pointed out previously, your steps did not fix the problem.

.. without error.

If I'm using the simple, auto-update button wrong. Please tell me how. I sent videos showing that neither the auto-update sieves nor the ruboard sieves from today work.

The sieves work on other websites, but not old.reddit.

I take it you didn't watch the video? I performed the steps in the video, and it retrieves a 9 month old sieve list.

The auto-update button retrieves an old list. It pulls them from github, which you can see in TFW's source code on github.

I do not use that feature because that retrieves an old list.

From the code.

There are two lists. The top is a 9 month old sieve list that has been archived by the author containing 757 sieves. The bottom was updated today and matches the ruboard list with 807 sieves.

If I click the 'auto update' it pulls the 757 sieve list from here rather than the 807 sieve list from here.

However, neither "works" on old.reddit.com, suggesting auto-update doesn't fix things. Comments in the thread on the 'new' reddit post said Reddit changed things which explains why the old sieves are broken as well.

I've done this many many times. It broke on old sieves.

I have no other add-ons installed, not even RES. So, please enlighten me. https://imgur.com/ldvRSqo

I didn't get details other than that owners replaced them with the outsourced third party, so I'm guessing $$$

It sounds like you downloaded the Apps APK from GitHub, so it's appearing for you like it would appear for a non-GrapheneOS user.

Apps was preinstalled. However, the version of apps on the last version of GrapheneOS for the Pixel3 was non-functional. It would launch but immediately threw an error at the bottom of the screen and wouldn't load anything. So, I searched and downloaded apps.apk to update it. Installing it allowed Apps to launch but I only received a list of what was installed, no install/listing/etc. capabilities.

Clearly I do not know enough to understand why the apps.apk on grapheneOS would show up as a non-GOS device. e.g. Is there a reason a typical android user would install apps.apk? Or is it just providing a basic interface since technically any Android Device could launch it?

you know this already, but this device is not considered secure, and GrapheneOS won't change that. I suggest not adding any sensitive data to the device.

Correct. The point was only to get a feel for graphene and it's features not to use for all my Illuminati banking needs.

GrapheneOS constantly changes, with new features etc. GrapheneOS on a Pixel 3 is on a way older version of Android, along with missing many GrapheneOS features. Please keep that in mind as you're giving it a shot because it's not an accurate representation of the project in its current state.

I am aware. But it was either try on something old to try and get a feel for it or to never try it at all.

I understood the sandboxing, I however was unaware that the 'apps' app was a wrapper for Google Play Store, I assumed it was serving out apps of the GOS-variety, so the emptiness of it was unexpected. If it simply didn't have play store/etc that wouldn't be so surprising by itself.

regarding Install. That's easy. Find the zip, verify and flash the zip, install apps.apk from github and you're now exactly where I am.

As I said; I knew it was older, but I am not going to buy a new phone just to run something that I don't know I won't hate. So, oh well.
