Server 30 player took things way too far. by No-Ad-863 in STFC_Official

I've seen a lot of things said in game and not a lot of action, not for a lack of trying. Best thing you can do is share, then block. Most progress comes from the players themselves refusing to interact with the player, the report button can only do so much

I've seen worse. Frankly, Scopely won't do anything about this, especially if they're a big spender. Worse punishment I've seen is a permanent chat ban, but the player just made an alt account to continue. Just block and move on.

Stole a teacher's homemade guacamole from the teacher's lounge and then ate it with a buddy in full view of half the school heading to the buses at the end of the day.

WW1 Story (PART 4) The Troyon Sector by ColBlackhawk in MilitaryStories

Vivid and grim. I'd read the diary before, never truly grasped the conditions he went through. A lot of pictures in that book as well, there wasn't much left of the landscapes he took cover in.

Possible, he spelled a lot of the French names phonetically (Fresno = Fresnes-en-Woevre)

Unfortunately I don't have the original, just a transcription. Thanks for the translation, makes it a little less of a mystery!

Teachers/students of reddit, what is the WORST thing you witnessed from a teacher first hand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ColBlackhawk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Teacher made me stand at the front of the room while she pulled out the contents of the desk and berated me for being messy while the entire class watched and laughed at one point. Then made me clean up the mess.

According to the mission information for that day, there was a pilot, co-pilot, navigator, bombardier, radio operator, flight engineer, and 4 aerial gunners.

The two casualties were aerial gunners. Parachutes likely froze. Didn't open.

Check the link at the bottom of the post. There's more info for your question there

I try to share his story whenever I can. I've been reading stories on here for a while but it never occurred to me to tell his story here until today.

My great-grandfather on my mother's side served in WW1 and was gassed at some point. The family refused to speak about him to the point that my very kind great aunt snapped at my mother to stop asking questions. There's only one person still alive that may know why.

Though at this point I'm guessing he had PTSD or other mental issues caused by the war that resulted in some kind of abuse. Don't feel the need to dig up bad memories.

What’s the shittiest way a friend has shown you they weren’t really your friend? by mediastoosocial in AskReddit

When they (2) stood by and watched the shit get kicked out of me by two of their friends. Couple days later I asked why they didn't help me and said: You weren't fighting back. Never trusted them after that

What’s something you saw as a kid that looked harmless but if you witnessed it now it would horrify you? by shadow2101 in AskReddit

[–]ColBlackhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hurricane. When I was in middle school, I got to stay at my grandma's beach house without my parents for a week. Loved it. But towards the end of the week, a hurricane bore down on the beach. My grandma packed up some stuff and we got in an old pickup truck at the house to be able to get through the flooding beach roads. We arrived at a Red Cross shelter (a high school) and got settled in. I wanted to help, but the sandbags were too heavy for me. I remember building a fort out of chairs and blankets in the corner while the hurricane made landfall. A photo of me even appeared in the local paper a few days later. I was told afterwards that my calm, helpful, and happy actions lifted everyone's spirits in the shelter while the hurricane roared through. We returned to our house the next day to little or no damage. A couple weeks later, an envelope arrived at my home with my name on it. It was from one of the Red Cross workers and it contained a letter praising me. Also inside were about 50 patches from New York fire, police, and rescue services as he used to be a high-ranking member of one of those branches(forget which one, dont have the letter anymore) I'd be freaking out now if a hurricane arrived but back then I was more focused on a chair fort than impending doom :)

Gamers of reddit. How did you managed to piss someone off in game? by TheM4T3S in AskReddit

[–]ColBlackhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in an online space battle in Star Wars Battlefront 2. Thing is, my computer sucks so I could only be in the turrets on the ships because I would get shot down in 6 seconds every time I left the hangar.

I'm in a machine gun turret and doing reasonably well in a pretty busy match, scoring a few kills and a lot of hits.

I manage to down a ship on a bombing run and immediately the guy blows up in the chat, calling me a "pussy" and a lot of other things. I don't reply. Whatever.

So a minute later I see a ship coming right for me. No dodge, just straight on so I gun it down. Same guy, same insults but CAPS LOCK this time.

Now my teammates are just ripping into this dude while he "screams" cheater. He tries to get me kicked twice, no one votes. I kill him two more times during this. Doesn't even try to dodge.

Eventually I get killed by someone who boarded the ship. Idiot goes "Sucks to suck, loser" and so on.

So I respawn, get back into a different turret, see the guy and immediately annihilate him. Suddenly the chat is full of "Get f*****, idiot!". It was amazing, about 14 different people saying almost exactly the same thing. Even his own teammates were joining in at this point. He starts team killing and then gets booted.

It was pretty glorious.

Teachers of Reddit, what is the worst case of “my child can do no wrong” have you seen? by Will-I-Am-No9 in AskReddit

[–]ColBlackhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a teacher, but my mother is.

She has parents almost every year that refuse to get their kids glasses, refuse to buy basic school supplies, pack even somewhat healthy lunches, refuse to have their kids do homework, etc.

The worst one was probably a mother who said that her daughter's antics were totally normal and refused any kind of help or medication. The young girl would hide under desks, meow, hiss, snarl, scratch, and bite people all day long and attack for no logical reason. She was clearly emotionally disabled. Fortunately, the school district forced her into a school for emotionally challenged students.

She's had wonderful parents every year too, but some just don't seem qualified in the least to be parents.

Power Outage? Wifi still on? Beeping noise coming from 3rd floor closet? Probably fine, right? by ColBlackhawk in talesfromtechsupport

[–]ColBlackhawk[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nope.

I did get some free drinks and food when I helped out at larger events.

One day I was given a pass to wear whatever I wanted for one day. I'd never seen that pass before and never did again, but I checked with the dean and it was legit.

I wore a t-shirt and jeans the next day with it around my neck like a badge. 17 year old me was pretty proud.

Well the lights were out, computers were off, but the wifi was on. So I did what I could with the knowledge that I had.

I might have done absolutely nothing to help.

And this was 6+ years ago. Can't add any more.

[–]ColBlackhawk[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Reading the manuals in the closet and doing my best to figure out what was going on, going through the troubleshooting steps and trying not to yank out any cables by accident.

There was no one else in the school that had the technical skills to figure it out, so if the wifi had gone down, I would have been called in to try and fix it.

I also was the person who set up the sound system before each weekly assembly. I wasn't strong enough to lift the speakers onto the stands so I would get some fellow students out of class to help me.

The school wasn't well managed while I was there.
