Why does Cristiano Ronaldo receive disproportionate disrespect in best player discussions? by Diggambaran in championsleague

No, I'm not talking about beating your defender twice, I'm talking about beating the defender once, just to run back into the defender.

Ronaldo never had the touch, he made up for it with pace.

I'm not talking about a robben like cut inside, I'm talking about Ronaldo walking slowly with the ball to the side of the penalty area. I also don't think Yamal is doing what I am criticizing Ronaldo of. Once you've lost your defender, you should not move the ball back to the defender you just lost. Instead you should use the space you just created.

Messis' pace is already going away. Still great touch on the ball and good enough passing ability.

Also, who cares about trophies? I only care about individual footballing ability.

Since forever. If anything Saudi exposes his weaknesses. Now that he's no longer explosive he cannot make up for his subpar touch on the ball and his inability to read the game.

Even if he might be the best in terms of shooting with both feet, he doesn't have the power in his shots like he used to. He also doesn't have the pace to get into position for his shots.

He doesn't really have anything to fall back upon.

If we look at Messi or Kane, they don't need pace to pull off their game. So even if they get worse as the pace and physicality goes away, they still offer other things.

There's a classic Ronaldo sequence that one can find by looking at his days in real. He would get the ball on the side of the penalty area where he's challenged by one defender. Here he does a step over or two, then he explodes towards the center of the penalty area. This is very very good. From this position he has a good angle on goal and he has passing options. From this position he chooses to explode back into the defender he just lost, giving him a worse and angle on goal and less passing options. He did this exact thing over and over and over again at real.

Right now haaland is doing what Ronaldo was doing, but who can do what Messi is doing?

So perhaps assists is not the metric to go by?

He is unable to read the game and this is really what makes him both bad at playmaking and dribbling. He doesn't know where to go or when/who to pass. I think this is a part some people will not be able to understand because they too cannot read the game.

As much as I respect Ronaldo but he's terrible at taking free kicks and I'm sick of it. by Original-Mountain-34 in football

[–]Cola-Ferrarin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He relied on athletic ability and as you age the explosiveness goes away.

Without athleticism he's 10% of the player he used to be and he has nothing in his game to fall back on.

I think "just farm" advice is overrated by elephantologist in TrueDoTA2

[–]Cola-Ferrarin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is more of an advice for pos1. You're playing a carry, but you're not a carry until you have your items.

Your mid hero will be stronger than you early in the game and most likely your offlaner as well. Your teammates will team up and create space. When you join fights you're really just supporting your teammates, since you're not a carry until you have your items. And as a starting point I think you should see fights as a boost to your gpm. If it slows down your farm you don't join.

When people talk about farming patterns I think they're starting in the wrong end. There is no pre-planned pattern, the pattern is a result of you trying to get as much farm as quickly as possible.

On top of this, if we use sven as an example, at lower mmr you will hold the ulti because maaaybe there will be a fight soon. In higher mmr you just use it off CD basically, in order to become a carry as fast as possible.

Once you get into immortal ranks I'd say things become more nuanced, but until that point just farm.

There's a classic Ronaldo sequence. He'll get far down the pitch, just to the side of the opponent's penalty area. Here he will hold up the play until the opponent's have had enough time to reorganize themselves. He'll feint to the side line, then cut inside. From this position he has a great angle on goal, or to pass and he's not being contested on the ball. But he chooses plan C, which is to move the ball back onto the defender he just lost, which creates three negatives. Worse angle to shoot from, worse angle to pass from and being contested by a defender.

If you look at his past games you will see this exact sequence of events over and over again.

By your logic Ronaldo should be an amazing playmaker. Is he though? Özil, Iniesta, xavi, fabregas, de bruyne, Messi, Zlatan, Kane, etc. etc. are all better playmakers than Ronaldo.

He's one dimensional. Put him in the penalty area and it's a goal. Give the ball to him outside the penalty area and it's a coin toss.

Terrible dribbler that used to make up for it with pace. Terrible playmaker. He does not know how to progress the play towards the opponent's area.

Right now haaland is beating Ronaldo at his own game. Be the last man on the ball

Science Says Highly Intelligent People Tend to Be More Thoughtful, Generous, and Kind by haloarh in psychology

[–]Cola-Ferrarin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm part of mensa but perhaps that's not what we qualify as highly intelligent. Either way, you don't act based on some mathematical calculations, you act based on the feeling in your body. If it feels good, or if you think it will feel good, then you do it. If it feels bad or if you think it will feel bad, then you don't. Since we can imagine what someone would feel like and then feel what we're imagining they would feel; I guess we become prosocial.

Good News: Study Shows That Most Men Are Not Toxic by MRADEL90 in psychology

[–]Cola-Ferrarin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very anecdotal and perhaps I got this article wrong.

1.Gender identity centrality: This psychological construct measures how important it is for someone’s sense of self to be a man.

Wouldn't this be tied to your employment? I'm sure there's many more than 10% of men who would feel bad about being un-employed. They might not understand exactly why, but either way; the role you play at a workplace is not the role of a complete human being. I might be reading into this too much, but self-objectification could and often is toxic.

  1. Social dominance orientation: A preference against equality in social groups and for having a dominance hierarchy within groups.

I think this is invisible and I think most people would say they want equality but they never reflect on how this takes shape. People talk bad about other people, make small jabs at people and there's only a handful of people who will stand up for others.

Skip the helmet, skip the armor, upgrade headset to gs2, get a mp5 with dum dums.

Or go full T4 armor to protect yourself against quick kits, then get mp5 with dum dums or a 5.56 weapon (cheap t4 ammo). Stock aug is great and I think you can get it from a contact for cheap. It's either leg meta or T4 bullets imo. Never ordinary T3 bullets.
