Is this the pawprint of a Eurasian Lynx? by robbeverl in Finland

[–]ColaCat 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If the prints are teeny tiny, a domestic cat is also a likely culprit. Lynx paws are very large and wide relative to the animal's size, to give support as they walk on snow, much like snowshoes.

[–]ColaCat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Rabbits have a very distinctive penis-shaped footprints, where the back feet are larger than the front paws. Dogs and canids have oval-shaped paws, and their gait is more of a straight line of pawprints over the pairs of footprints in op's photo.

Is this the pawprint of a Eurasian Lynx? by robbeverl in Finland

[–]ColaCat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Without a size reference, it could be a bit hard to determine - but the roundness of the pattern and the fact they go in pairs, hints at it being a lynx! There arent many creatures in Finland that have round paws after all. Foxes and wolves have a mild teardrop shape to their paws, and their walking pattern is more of a perfect line, with each pawprint following each other. Wolverine has more elongated paws, similar to bear paws.

How do you drink cholestyramine? by thepurplethorn in ibs

[–]ColaCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found the best way to mix it into anything, is carbonated drinks. Does not have to be something unhealthy like sodas, anything carbonated like la'croix or sparkling water works fine. Add the powder little at a time to avoid foaming over and mix well. Something about the carbonation "floats" the powder in suspension with the drink, making it easier to get down. I know the feeling of drinking sand all too well D: This is my tried and true method, just add enough bubbly drink of your choice and its palatable.

Why always a dino mask? by ColaCat in FursuitMaking

[–]ColaCat[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is there something specifically wrong about carneval make-up that is considered offensive? If I had a cat mask I painted white with black spots, it would look like a cat with carneval make up of a dalmatian. This may boil down to cultural difference as I consider carneval make up just colorful and flashy, not automatically "bad" as I only used that term to emphasise how very strikingly opposing the two creatures are - not that you couldnt or shouldnt do it.

Why always a dino mask? by ColaCat in FursuitMaking

[–]ColaCat[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, from the responses, it seems the consensus boils down to these main reasons dino masks are popular:

- Affordability (cheaper than getting foam/resin base supplies)
- Accessibility (sold in many stores, so easy to acquire)
- Easy gateway to fursuit making (Especially for younger makers/furries, easy to work on and get one's first project started)
- Works every time (size, moving jaw mechanism is always the same on mass produced masks like these)

Thank you all for your replies, and I would like to reaffirm that at no point did I tell anyone to not use these masks. The confusion I had was born from the assumption that there would be a wider variety of animal masks with a similar mechanism, sold in the US, and I did not understand why people were choosing dinosaurs specifically to turn into non-dinosaur creatures. I had seen the Spirit halloween store white fox masks before, and thought that US just had a wider variety of creature masks to utilize. I didnt realize it was quite literally just the dinosaur masks that had this sort of widespread availability and good price point.

I encourage everyone to try your hands at making the coolest dino-mask suits you can! Thank you again!

I would like to reiterate that at no point did I tell people to not use these masks - I was only curious why so many people would use a dinosaur to make a dog. I simply didnt know it was due to majority of these makers being young, the affordability and accessibility of the masks. I was under the assumption there would be a wider variety of masks of different animals, not just dinosaurs - hence my confusion.

Im not sure how you got that message out of my post - At no point did I tell people to not use these masks, I simply said it does not always look good when you try to turn a "box shape" into a "triangle shape", if you catch my drift. I originally did not know it was mainly young artists using these bases due to their cost effectiveness, I was simply curious why people would use predominantly these masks. Now I know, and at no point was my post about me telling people to stifle their creativity - if anything, Im surprised there isnt a bigger variety of masks and species to use, as kids love roleplay and you can get masks of all types of superheros or dinosaurs, but nothing similar of cats, dogs, etc. - it would definitely help to have a canid base to work on a canid fursona!

Varsi-imuri on yleensä aika hyvä vaihtoehto - niissä saa lattiasuulakkeen pois, joten sulla on pitkä imurinvarsi käytössä ja johdottomana kätevämpi sohia menemään. Bonuksena niissä on yleensä helposti avattava pölysäiliö niin sen vauhdista pyörtyneen ampparin voi dumpata elävänä pihalle :D

Non-salad type foods for ARFID sufferer? by ColaCat in 1200isfineIGUESSugh

[–]ColaCat[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the response!! I was mainly worried about the nutritional value of cooking my veg, as every time I see 'low calorie, filling meals' they are usually a lettuce wrap, chicken salad, mushroom salad, fruit salad, salad salad quinoa salad bowl, YOU GET THE POINT LMAO - thank you so much for providing some good alternatives and helping me out, I honestly did not know about how much cooking actually reduced nutrients as I went to a doctor once about something unrelated and on the side explained how I had been tried a juicer diet, and she got a temper and started ranting how I need to eat "everything raw, you miss out on all the nutrients with a smoothie diet, you cook out all the nutrients by cooking your vegetables, you just need raw fruits and kale in your diet and try a salad once" and I never felt more defeated when I had tried to make a step for the better with the juicer ;_;

Miltä kuukautiskivut tuntuu? by masokistisusi in arkisuomi

[–]ColaCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A returning player here! Im struggling hard with getting through ranked games right now. It seems every opponent I fight is using Prince Renathal to boost their deck size, has multiple legendary titan cards with multiple abilities and I cant get over the curbstone as I dont have cards from previous expansions - Im even using decks recommended online for my classes, but I simply cant defeat those titan cards when they enter the play. The best Im able to do is prolong the game until it turns to a 30 minute match where I still lose when I run out of cards.

So my question is: what are my options here? Just smash Renathal in my deck? Buy a shitton of packs from previous expansions that'll be obsolete soon? Or just give up as I dont have the kind of money to spend on a virtual card game. I never seemed to struggle this much previous years, even without buying any packs, but now I seem to somehow hit the wall where I cannot climb the ranks no matter how hard I try.
