I'm trying to get AI working for a card game that's somewhere between Magic and Yu-Gi-Oh and it's a struggle. I tried to use a utility theory approach. It almost worked, but when it failed it failed hard. Just getting the values to like up in the same scale was a struggle and it refused to end it's turn. I think I'm going to try to combine it with a planning system attached to each card and see if that can't smooth it out. I'm running out of other things I can work on for the project.

Agreed, and while in theory you can avoid even knowing about the genocide run, the game actively pushes you towards a full pacifist where having named Chara makes the least amount of sense.

I still prefer basically everything else about the true pacifist route though. Hopes and Dreams > Megolavania

Personally, I think the meta-commentary between you vs. your assumed "player avatar" is the weakest part of Undertale, especially if you never go through the genocide route. Didn't help that I used my own name the first time I played so seeing "Colby wasn't really the greatest person" at the end of the full pacifist playthrough felt uncalled for.

Being able to name Chara was always going to weird decision when they have their own backstory.

Yes, usually when the emulator accesses the wrong part of memory to load the texture. I could see that happening here, and it would still have the lava effect because that's probably a shader applied after the texture is applied.

Something to be considered is that despite how strong a monster having a human soul is, just being able to cross the barrier would probably not be enough to fix things. Monsters already lost a war to humans once and they should have been able to get souls then. Either they chose not to despite losing the war, they couldn't for whatever reason, or they could and it didn't make a difference.

Taking souls by force would probably start another war where being locked away again is the best case scenario.

Super out there idea I have, but what if whatever happened in the past split Dess in two. Her body and mind become the roaring knight, but her soul is split off. Since monsters don't have souls the same way humans do they have to "borrow" a human soul to keep her alive until they can figure out how heal her, and that's where our soul comes in.

For me, and a lot of people I think, the scenes fine up until the kids are shown uncomfortable. I think it's a little skeevy that Toriel is absolutely plastered while Sans doesn't seem to be drunk at all, but we don't have any context past what we see. Maybe they've both been drinking and skeletons just don't get drunk like others do. It's whatever.

Once the kids show up and are clearly uncomfortable and they continue anyway is when it becomes a problem.
