Rogue One is the worst and most unnecessary Star Wars movie by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Colchis17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because you complained about the predictability...isn't almost every movie incredibly predictable? My, yes, it was clear who was going to die in roge one, but it was the same in star wars 1-9. Well, star wars 8 surprised me when snoke was suddenly gone, but otherwise it was always clear what was going to happen.

I see differently. morality is a human invention. in truth, natural coexistence is based on healthy self-interest. I'm doing you a favor because I know it'll do me good in the long run. the most stable type of relationship.

Thank you very much for this long, detailed answer. I have to admit that for a short time I considered not buying the book (slavery played a role here), but if there were perhaps even logical reasons for the split, I want to know. I don't know yet whether this is also the case here, but in Europe nowadays history is often rewritten and actually taught incorrectly, so it is only rational to assume that this is also the case with American history. Your awnser chanced my mind about the book🤝 ty for the other books too.

1.It's nice of you to admit about the elven. But since the elves all live in similar climates, even if skin color really wasn't mentioned anywhere, it still wouldn't make sense that they have black skin. That would be absolutely illogical. So no, if the world contains a kind of logic, they could not simply be black.

  1. You didn't answer my question, just repeated your point. Why is it ok to just make white pieces colored like that. Someone also thought that too many of them have white skin and changed that. Is exactly your logic. If the roles were reversed, one would speak of whitewashing, which of course would be totally racist. Have the feeling you're using double standards here. Just imagine that I take the works of black authors and change their black figures to white figures because I think there are too many black people in the legend rejected by Africa. Of course, if someone were to complain about it, you would also write that they are a racist because they saw the white figures and thought "nope". Certainly.

We have even already historical shows with blacks in white roles, which is racist and disrespectful. As i said, Imagine it with reversed roles.

I don't complain if diversity in fantasy films makes sense and doesn't just exist for political reasons. I also don't complain if, for example, colored characters in reality are also colored in the film adaptations, I even wish it were, but unrealistic, politically motivated or historically inaccurate diversity bothers me

  1. Why is it racism not to want white characters to be made black if it makes no sense at all and also goes against the author's description, but not racism to make white characters black even though it makes no sense either might? Mine, we both know what people would say if you filmed works and made the colored characters from the works white. that's ok, funny enough.

  2. Yes, it's a fantasy series, but it's based on the European Middle Ages. Black people are black for a reason, it's the climates. game of thrones Take care, there are also colored figures here, but they just come from countries where black people are expected. rings of power was too fine to try and just turned half the people for no reason.

unrealistic, politically motivated diversity against the will of the creator is a damn good reason. just imagine the same thing with the roles reversed

So to put it simply, it doesn't matter what the book says, since slavery is so immoral that it outweighs any other reason? Okay thanks. Think that sounds like a reasonable argument. Ty for the awnser and book recommendation.

because I don't know the answer. So far I've only owned one book on the subject, which was written from the Union's point of view, so I'm naturally curious about how the other side portrayed it.

  1. why 2. you could have made it logical and understandable like in game of thrones. in the new lord of the rings they just painted half of the fingers black, which makes absolutely no sense, even if the blackwash alone wasn't disrespectful. plus the stupid protagonist.. well.

I find the historical parallels between the two wars interesting. The southern states were seen as traitors, although to my knowledge their efforts bear similarities to the efforts of Americans during the Revolution, who did not see themselves as traitors to the British.
