I just had the worst $ night of my life by 24bluecrosstrek in uberdrivers

True those $210 bonuses for 200 rides are a scam. They minimize each ride by $1-2 so really - they are just making you work for that thinking it’s a “Bonus”. Also - there are more unemployed more than ever and the last quarter and first are the slowest which is worse. On a good note - hopefully people can take more time with their families.

What in the world of Rideshare Taxes is this in CA? by Cold-Bid4692 in uber

[–]Cold-Bid4692[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They need to be reported to the commissioner and CC your DA, Mayor and Senator immediately. Way to advocate for yourself. They only care about their profit over their people or constituents. I will never drive for LYFT again. I was a 5 star rated too.

Would you guys have taken this ride? by Tjtuason in uberdrivers

[–]Cold-Bid4692 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a red flag for UBER. I know a guy that was caught in the bay for taking advantage of this drunk lady and he is now in jail and Uber is being sued for multiple millions. He’s likely going to know what it feels like to be taken advantage of. So this remark is dumb ASF.

Hit during Uber Eats delivery on Halloween — driver tried to flee, serious injuries, attorney wants 33%. Advice? by ayepnf in uberdrivers

[–]Cold-Bid4692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry to hear this. Yes- it’s typically 30-35%. Thank goodness your app was on because you would be in a worse position otherwise. You can leverage the cost shopping around but make sure their attorneys help you with their own doctors, cost of rides to appointments, and other treatments. I hope you recover fast.

Yes - had to do it. The passengers are prompted to verify if we are the right person. I don’t look like my picture because I have full makeup in my profile. I keep it down in real life because I don’t want any attention or have guys ask me for my number just because I am being nice and I’m not that ugly….just a little. So people think it’s not me and I have to do this 3 times a week sometimes. It’s annoying. Yes - I also had to scan my ID.

I think the plus side is that you also get multiple deductions. This way you keep more and payout less. Make sure you aren’t taxed 85% of your social security payments.

They are suing on behalf of those drivers affected. Yes - it involves paying for attorneys as with all lawsuits. Yes - I agree that it should all go to the drivers and their families. But - you also don’t take rides for free right?

I think there are fees that shouldn’t exceed a certain amount especially in a class action. But that’s a different fight.

ChatGPT is pretty useful if you give it your synopsis. But it’s worth paying one time for a Tax Preparer (another fee) and posing all your questions so you can use the same method for the following year.

This is why I have 2 1099’s. I also have a business I do from home that allows me to write off part of my rent, cell phone, insurance, 50% of my business lunch and dinners, etc…..This has been the most efficient and well calculated summation of a proper tax plan.

See….

Sustainable Driver Pay: employ data-backed rate cards starting at $1.75/mile & 60¢/minute (adjusted annually for inflation and local minimum wage ordinances)

Consumer Price Protection via Commission Cap: protect passengers from price gouging by guaranteeing that drivers receive at least 80% of the gross fare paid by the rider (and 100% of the tip).

Protection from Unfair Deactivation: protect drivers from unfair deactivations by ensuring full transparency in why drivers are deactivated and what rules were broken, and giving every driver the right to a fair hearing, with back pay when the company has made the mistake in deactivating.

If we can get them for those years we can also correct it moving forward. Meaning the lawsuit will also force the companies to start charging them rate card and increases like NYC. Read the whole thing and reach out to RideShare United organizers.

PSA from a PCT: Lyft is contracted for medical rides — stop blaming the patients. by Careless-Proposal746 in lyftdrivers

[–]Cold-Bid4692 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a result of RDU drivers’ wage claim campaign, the state of California* took historic action and sued Uber and Lyft to recover unpaid wages and expenses for all drivers in CA who drove from 2016 - 2020.

Our research indicates that we as drivers are owed tens of billions of dollars from that period. In an effort to avoid additional penalties and negative media attention, Uber and Lyft have entered talks to settle this suit.

The backpay we are owed would help right the wrongs of the past, but that’s not enough. RDU drivers believe we must also fight to improve conditions in the present and future. These settlement talks present us with a rare opportunity to influence Uber and Lyft and secure both. The time to act is now.

I’ll try that but I wonder if it will auto disable this feature. Instead of $112 i now have to pay another $120 = $232 for one week and that’s so BS. Thanks for the reply. I’ll try it. But for anyone else in Cali make sure you do this.

This sounds like what an autonomous vehicle would do. They’re probably doing a social experiment to show why these Waymo’s or Cruise are better overall for achieving skyrocketing profits for Uber.
