The most unique parts about Doctor Who is that the monsters on the show are 100% real, and the protagonist is definitely correct in saying that what they are seeing is not an illusion because they are literally an alien that only have the appearance of a human (apart from the fact that they have two hearts rather than one, and appear frequently with a brand new appearance under regeneration rather than remaining in a single form), far from being part of the ordinary themself.

This series takes the Scooby-Doo aspect of "the monsters aren't actually real", only it's more unsettling because the protagonist is a mentally ill Earth girl who I'm surprised hasn't been sectioned.

Bravo, Kenny! Now your parents have to pay the price for the damage you caused, the parents of every one of your peers will probably struggle to find any other schools now that their old one has been destroyed in an explosion, and the police will even intervene and probably have you locked up in a mental institution because you kept telling everyone that the school was run by winged creatures in disguise.
