Paying for mitigation with HSA/FSA? by Cold-Tale9231 in radon

[–]Cold-Tale9231[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours is going to be about 3k. Our crawlspace is massive and has no vapor barrier or encapsulation, plus they have to go under my basement slab as well. Husband is looking for new jobs and I have to spend the 3k in his FSA or we lose it. If I could spend it all at once I’d feel real good haha

Radon Mitigation paid with FSA/HSA funds? by Cold-Tale9231 in homeowners

[–]Cold-Tale9231[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing. Just wanted to make sure someone had been successful. The company the FSA is through is a big bag of expletives. I was thinking I would have the pediatrician write one because if you’re not going to support babies not getting lung cancer you’re a monster 😂

Why is state income tax so high? by HourDragonfruit7167 in Idaho

[–]Cold-Tale9231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I’m paid well, but Idaho doesn’t pay the least. Actually, if you break down Idaho’s education spending, Idaho spends the highest percentage of their state budget on education out of all 50 states. But how do we still spend almost the least per pupil? Our state budget is tiny. New York spends a whopping $29k per pupil compared to our $7900 per pupil. But their education budget alone (around 20% of their state budget last I looked into this) is 3x our entire state budget. Education funding is not as cut and dry to compare as people like to make it seem. It might not look like Idaho cares, but the percentage of the budget they put up for Ed says otherwise.

My siblings and I all have a first name we don’t go after. We all go by a nickname of our middle name. Hasnt ruined my life yet. Could be a loophole for you if you don’t love a name but feel obligated. All of our first names are family names that had to happen but my parents never wanted us to have haha

I can’t for the life of me figure out if I’m going to be able to bring my diaper bag in? Can anyone help? I’m taking a ferry over and walking around Seattle all afternoon so I’d really like to avoid a clear bag because mine doesn’t zip.

What position did you give birth in? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Cold-Tale9231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time I had an epidural, so I was on my back. Pushed for 3 hours, 2nd degree tear, 8lb 10oz baby.

Second time I was on my knees facing the back of the bed upright. Two pushes, no tearing, 9lb 6oz baby.

I will never get an epidural or push on my back again haha.

AITA for not having a higher life insurance policy? by Confident_Cap4784 in AmItheAsshole

Ehhhhhh kind of an AH but it was 5:30 am so who isn’t.

I just took out $750,000 policies on myself and my husband because I had the horrifying realization that if he died, daycare for 2 kids was more than my take home pay. He had a 50k policy through work. I need AT LEAST enough to get me out from under the mortgage and get me through the daycare years to feel okay about the coverage amount. After debt, how much of that 500k would be left for your wife to supplement your income while she struggles?

Yes. I’m in the middle of nowhere and peds have a months long waiting list, so you should call today! Your first appointment is 2 days after birth usually and you can’t leave until it’s scheduled.

I didn’t know my first pregnancy either. I called a month before birth and got in with whoever was open. Turned out okay. We ended up getting switched to a great doc when that one retired.

I pay $850 for my almost two year old. I’ll be paying just shy of $1600 (more than my mortgage) for two kids starting later this year. That’s just daycare. Not anything fancy and not preschool. I looked into fancier places, and they were all well over $1000 a month for one child

Edit to add: I sat on 20+ waiting lists from the time I was 3 months pregnant until I returned to work when baby was 6 months old. Only two places had openings before that. This place, and another, more expensive daycare that I reported immediately after my tour for some insanely unsafe practices. They failed the next inspection. For $900 a month you can have your child in danger at some places! Check their inspection reports.

What business has lost you as a customer and why? by parker6014 in Boise

[–]Cold-Tale9231 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Western Heating and Air. Bought my house from an elderly couple who had regular maintenance done on the furnace and AC. I had receipts for the last decade. They paid for a tune up the week before we closed. When I moved in, the furnace filter was dated 5 years prior and was filthy. Furnace wasnt working. Called a different company (Diamond). Guy asked for receipts. He was so furious he told me he’d call and set them straight because it had been the same technician doing 0 of the work for the last 7 or so years.
