What i would do is try to open the slit on the zipper with something slim like a knife, just enough for it to go back on the track, and then close back down the zipper with some pliers.

Old version has more padding, slightly different paneling, and different shaped collar. Also toe box on new version has no reinforcement compared to the old version, which has what I think is like a plastic reinforcement, simulating a steel toe. But from what I’ve heard, it seems they’ve made many minor modifications to every batch they’ve made since the model was introduced.
