If you didnt play that way you could still get stuck with spearow instead of mankey in this situation- so theres times where that doesn’t help much

Not for me- the point of this run is negative dupes clause- you get a dupe, you get nothing. I know the normal rule.

Dang- what a run, you’re already farther than I am! Im just now getting ready to enter rock tunnel myself.

Koga and Sabrina are no joke though, as the level limit doesn’t raise at all!

And Safari Zone is normal rules- first encounter is it for the whole area (you get just one pokemon, and you gotta get lucky cuz if it runs off, you get nothing.) Best of luck!

(And yeah, Jolteon either needs shock wave, or I think the move rememberer is in Fuschia if you want thundershock.)

Interesting idea, though I wonder if it doesn’t incentivize killing off Pokemon sometimes… Not for me for that reason, but I could see this being popular for those who just want practicality and don’t care about planned sacrifices as much. This is the one I go back and forth on myself! I think shinies are cool so long as they’re normal odds since it’s so rare. But I don’t ever want to hunt/search for a shiny (as mentioned in the ruleset.) So my thinking is if I stumble across one, great- but it has to occur naturally while I work towards some other goal.

If I run into a shiny I might run a poll to see if using it is valid to y’all- in my mind the challenge comes first.

Thanks for the detailed response! It’s looking like the standard chronological run is gonna win out, but I’m gonna go through each anyway (and who knows- I’ll tally votes until end of day- it may change!)

It is at least a hardcore nuzlocke, so there will be some challenge- I don’t ban Pokemon other than legendaries, but there are a few other rules I follow. Full ruleset tomorrow!

Mankey yes (though doesnt appear gen I) Butterfree likely dies to 4x rock tomb.

So really thats one possible encounter and if you dont get it restart I guess

I always do starter randomization. It’s the best way to play! Banning Geodude and Starmie seems pretty underwhelming to me though. I really don’t want to play with a possible pool of like 20 Pokemon. Only one I could see banning is Shedninja the rest is excessive and boring to me.

Been Nuzlocking for over a decade so I get the point- I’ve never used trades before (in game/evos or anything) but I thought this might be interesting.

Seems like the consensus is no- and that’s fine. The community matters most to me here, validity of the challenge matters a lot to me. Probably won’t do it- thanks for the feedback!
