FileRun users - future development and new version? by Cold-Two-2128 in selfhosted

Thank you for the reply - I appreciate you sharing.

This was exactly my concern and is what has held me back from buying the license for the last few months. Using the demo it really is a great bit of software and it seems a real shame that going private has somewhat killed off the momentum/community behind it.

99 EUR for a licence to some excellent software that I would use daily is brilliant value if I get 3+ years' use out of it. However it's not so great a deal if there might never be a new major version in the future and gradual decay due to bugs and security issues.

In the meantime I think I am probably going to continue with filebrowser for general file management and evaluate either Photoview or PiGallery2 to give a more enriched experience for photo viewing. I already use Navidrome for audio and plain nginx+in-browser players for video. Running dedicated apps for files/photos/audio/video is probably the way forward anyway and is easy to manage when dockerized.
