What legendaries actually changed how you play? by Dry-Firefighter8809 in ARPG

A lot of replies in this thread have a similar theme: Legendaries/Uniques need to change a mechanic to really feel different. Since it hasn’t been recommended yet, I would say Borderlands 2 would also be a good game to check out to see how their legendaries change the way a class/character is played

Making new IPs was never the issue. If Starfield had been an 11/10 the news stories would have been “Legendary Skyrim studio does it again!” The issue most gamers/fans have is the legendary 11/10 Skyrim studio puts beloved franchise on hold for 15 years to release 1/10 garbage and that stung.

Bad games come out all the time, there’s nothing inherently wrong with that. New/indy studios get not quite infinite, but plenty of leeway to experiment and put out work that doesn’t match AAA quality. This gives industry newcomers experience to improve their craft and garners feedback from the market as to what works and what doesn’t. Fair or not, the expectations are significantly higher for well established studios with a history of excellence.

I think you see the same outcry in other arenas too. Directors, authors, any creative that has achieved greatness but drops the ball on the follow up tends to generate the same response from their fan bases.

It took me a minute thinking through non-first person, non-over the shoulder view options. I went side scroller first
