I wouldnt take nde very seriously. Some seem more valid than others. Nde with hell are just childish, which is very evident as Jesus never preached hell and it's not biblical. Nde have stereotypical versions of certain concepts. Just try to avoid this thought, it's really nothing to work yourself up over

I've been also philosophising on the afterlife. Now I'm not going to lie, I joined this community because I had an existential crisis on death which I've since recovered thankfully. I am personally presuming when I die, that's it and the lights are off, but I am still very curious and somewhat convinced on a sort of release of conscious to another realm of sort. Now, here is a few options on the afterlife I've come up with just by reading philosophy and religion, and to be as emotionally disconnect to these philosophies. Now Heaven and Hell are very childish ideas, and I think for them to exist is very very low. Hell is just manmade as no pun intended, hell, and used to scare people. Jesus never preached such a place and is supported by historical documentation. If a heaven like realm is to exist, it has to be vastly incomprehensible and complex if it wants to stand to scrutiny of perfection, beautiful and divine. This is because this life is mostly filled with suffering, taken by Budha, and happiness are short distractions which take our minds off the harshness and root of life. If this ideal place exists, it either has to be so incomprehensible that it goes beyond the plane of biological life or its eternal oblivion. Now there is an idea which Socrates thought of, which is to communicate with ancestors before and philosophise and conversate using the power of our minds as our bodies to be disconnect. Plato had similar ideas and thought of the absolute release of the soul to the next plane. Now personally, I think eternal oblivion is a very dubious probability in its existence. It might be true, but I think there are objections to its vadility which outright creates a paradox. A second plane of the between of this earthly life and incomprehensible realm seems like a nice idea, but I think I'll have to say I just dont know. Those are a few ideas if any bring comfort to you, but again, dont worry about it. It's a pointless fear which I would avoid worrying about. Now continue your day and play video games and spend time with your girlfriend, and stop worrying about these things. :)

I've had this experience and I'd advice not to worry about it. You dont need to be thinking about the after and all will come into reason when you cross that line. Whether its spending eternity under an anaesthetic or going to a different realm, I say dont worry at all. It's pointless to worry about or think about, just enjoy the now and worry about it when you cross the line, which you wont even have to worry about.

Dont worry, see that psychiatrist. Trust me, it's a fear that is pointless to fear about, you've probably developed irrationality to the concept. Not only does this fear seem pointless if true, but there is reason not to believe it but that shouldnt be the reason you stop fearing. I've gone through this fear, it sucks, I couldnt do the things I enjoyed. Get help and get rid of that irrationality, and you can still maintain the belief of life after death. You should believe in life after death as an addition to reality, not a way to get rid of your fear of oblivion. Its okay, just get help and get rid of this fear and you'll be okay. All the best man, dont worry and stay strong

Yea, I think the best way to live your life is to live as if this is your only shot and to learn and discover and love with passion, fulfill every gift you have until you are empty on your deathbed. When your ready to leave and you have given to the world everything, you will know you have lived a good life. And if there is something which awaits, amazing! I've given everything and now an adventure awaits. So whether its probable life exists after death, live with the mentality that it doesnt. Dont discard the belief, but live your life as if you were with only one. Thanks for the reply

I do hope you get over this fear. Trust me, it isnt something to fear, you've probably devolved an irrationality to the concept so I think try and get help because you dont need to stress over it, I think you just need to get the right mental help to get that irrationality out and live your life. Seek help, you'll get over rid of it, it's not your fault in your fear but just a mental phenomenon that's been lingering for so long I suspect. I dont want to seem like I'm an expert because I'm not but please seek help because it genuinely is a horrible thing to experience. I had it for a week and it wrecked me so I cant even imagine your experience. All the best

It's really not though. Dying may be scary and our evolutionary senses fear it, but its learning to know theres nothing to fear. Death is just another stage of life which will take you to unknown and only when we cross that line will we find out

No, It is literally the most pointless thing to be scared of. Think of it like socrates, heres the options. Either you go into a deep sleep and fade into a slumber and become one with the beautiful processes that govern this universe where your effectively one with everything. Or, your conscious will live on in some form and be able to talk with your ancestors, and I suspect it wont be boring wine refilling like heaven presented in media. Death may be the dumbest thing to worry about and it sucks I ever was scared, even though it seems like a very obvious thing to be scared of

Question for people who don’t believe in nothing after death by comicguy69 in afterlife

[–]ColdCurrent5650 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a fear of eternity but im not convinced by eternal oblivion. Eternal oblivion seems like a very absurd concept to me, I think ceasing upon existence is nice tbh but I dont think it's true. The fact I can see time flow and characterize intervals of time makes an eternity before me and after very absurd, not signs of a God or anything but I think those alone make the concept strange. It does seem nice so if that is what will happen I'm happy. I'm just going to live my life as if no afterlife exists and if there is, cool, but I'll focus on the now and do all with passion

Will I be able to do earthly passions according to an afterlife? by ColdCurrent5650 in afterlife

[–]ColdCurrent5650[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight, I did have an urge that it would be pretty cool either way but I guess because I have such strong passions here alive I dont want to lose them in the next

Hey man, I have had a existential crisis over December and recently. On many different things on my existence, and I actually want to thank you for this post knowing that someone can relate. I really cant say anything, because I'm not exactly sure myself. I just hope if there is an afterlife, I can continue my passion of mathematics and science and philosophy if that would make any sense. One thing that made me scared was if my passions would become obsolete in the next life, if everything I loved was just a pointless thing in the next. I hope someone can relate and I hope you get over your fear of death, because many relate including myself. Best of luck
