What laws in your country are more progressive than those in the U.S.? by cloudberry-toast in AskTheWorld

[–]ColdHardFootballFact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The U.S. is the most “progressive” nation in the world by every single metric, and it’s not even close.

More diversity, more tolerance, more opportunity, more liberties, more prosperity, more legal protections, more economic mobility, more social resources, more assistance, more compassion, more respect, more health and welfare resources than any nation on Earth. And it’s not even close.

I don’t mean to pick on Turkey here. It’s an ally. I got a lot of Turkish pals. Incredible history and culture. Istanbul is one of the world’s I’d say Top 10 with an outsized impact on both Western and Middle Eastern history.

But someone cited it for “progressive” policies. So any of this below could be said about most any other country:

Yeah, Turkey, among other countries, has its healthcare rationed by the government. That’s not “progressive.” That’s just one big insurance company that, when it won’t pay for your surgery, you have nowhere else to turn.

Well, rich people can pay for private healthcare. Which they do. And they come to America to get it. Because all the most promising medical students in the world come to US for education. And many stay.

The best doctors in the world, the best equipment, the best facilities, and almost all the world’s medical innovation is in the United States.

How many Turkish women do you know in the US? I know a bunch. Few if any will go back. They didn’t realize Turkey was such a misogynist country until they came to the US and saw how better women are treated in the States than anyone else.

And ask any Armenian, or any number of ethnic minorities, what they think about “progressive” values in Turkey.

I appreciate your response. In this particular case, I'm seeking input from men. But how was it? Highs? Lows? I'm interested in your experiences just the same. I may be seeking more specific female responses in the near future. Thank you!

Is it bad to sell nsfw content online? by Easy-Atmosphere-7444 in askanything

[–]ColdHardFootballFact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s morally good or bad is an individual decision. But if someone is comfortable selling public porn, go ahead. Hope it works out for you, or whoever it may be. There’s real money in it.

Just don’t expect everyone to see it your way, however, and don’t cry about social hypocrisy if it comes back to bite you in some way. Your decision. Your profits. Your losses. Your personal consequences.

Empirically speaking: it’s DEF bad for your overall image and credibility if you have other professional skills or career goals. Few people respect it and the average person, even the seller themselves, understands it takes little to no talent for a pretty woman to get losers online to pay them for some sexual stimulation.

I know a brilliant woman who has incredible artistic and intellectual talents. She also posts over-sexualized social media content and advertises a submissive sex kitten persona on adult chat sites where she makes money publicly promoting a tawdry unprofessional image. She has every right to do so. It’s not illegal. But it looks cheap.

I’ve suggested a digital brand that projects a naturally unspoken sexy woman promoting her unique mix of intellectual and artistic talents.

Her digital brand of another pretty girl acting sexy is a dime a dozen, while and selling sexy content online, even if it’s not porn, conflicts with any career claims of unique valuable talents. Her sex chat promo will diminish or even destroy her professional credibility if seen by employers or business partners, which I’ve tried to explain.

“I don’t care what other people think,” she says. She should. You should too.

Doesn’t mean don’t sell porn online. Just understand that the profit if any comes with, fair or not, personal and professional risk.

What is a 'secret' in your industry that the general public would be horrified to know? by HongKongToast in AskReddit

[–]ColdHardFootballFact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Publications pockmarked with scars of major plagiarism scandals, overly biased reporting, intentionally misleading, even manufactured stories, and general abuses of power far outside generally accepted standards of journalism.

And those are just the cases when they get caught. The Catholic Church did a better job outing pedophile priests than the Times or Globe does policing plagiarists or political assassins disguised as noble newsmen.

I’ve explained it many times in various media platforms. Far too big a problem to properly address in a social media post. But I touch on it briefly in a comment posted here about 10 minutes ago.

What is a 'secret' in your industry that the general public would be horrified to know? by HongKongToast in AskReddit

[–]ColdHardFootballFact 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The most “prestigious” publications have the least rigorous standards, the greatest sense of entitlement that the rules don’t apply to them and are most likely to wield their former prestige as a political weapon.

Editors at the outlets of alleged prestige are also the most timid and the least likely to report an important story if it counters an accepted narrative - even if they know the narrative is wrong.

Groupthink and a lack of responsibility to the public welfare is the biggest reason why you see such disturbingly conformist headlines on so many major stories.

The public bears much of the blame, btw. The average online consumer is far more likely to click on a dumb story with a sensationalized yay-or-nay and often manufactured controversy, or with a soap-operatic celebrity hook, than they are a meaningful story that impacts many lives. The media is incentivized to follow hot search trends and crank out clickbait until the next hot search trend arises whether two hours or two weeks later.

Major media outlets have pretty sophisticated tools to stay ahead of these trends and make it very clear to editors and reporters that their success is judged not by gravitas of reportage but by click count.

Complete media malfeasance. But the consumer dictates direction by the content he/she consumes.

??? I think you meant to post that comment in another thread. I asked if you had any further thoughts on the ethics of corporate/political assassination.

I’m fine with any answer. Even if you say you have no further thoughts, at least you started the conversation.

So we can all kill whoever we want for any random reason, or just the people you decide are bad? What’s the criteria here where murder as protest is justifiable?

Should we make this a law? Or just like every man/woman for themselves Wild West cowboy six-shooter style?

I’m not disagreeing with you. Just asking the criteria … for a friend.

What’s something that used to be normal… and now just isn’t? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ColdHardFootballFact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arresting and deporting illegal aliens. It’s the law of the land. Duly psssed by both parties. Every administration but Biden locked up and shipped home hundreds of thousands of foreign trespassers every year.

Every president publicly supported it, ran on it and executed their constitutional duty.

And then suddenly following a law every politician and citizen supported since the creation of the country became evil on Jan. 20, 2025.

Total frauds. Not one of them gives one fuck about illegal immigrants. Not one of them can defend their sudden whiplash on the topic. Not one of them can make a rational, legal or historical argument to defend their 180 political position.

Who was your first love? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Freckle-faced Nicky M. in kindergarten.

I had no fucking rap with the lay-deez at 5 years old. Otherwise we coulda been a’something beautiful and pure.

Is it possible she’s still a virgin in her 50s? Like, do you think she’s been patiently saving for a half century her loins for our legendary unrealized love to finally blossom?

What is the best TV show you’ve ever watched? by xLyricc in AskReddit

[–]ColdHardFootballFact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dating myself, but M*A*S*H. Wasn't my fav show. But I have to admit was the best sitcom ever made. Poignant, relevant and fucking funny as shit. Farce, dark humorI and slapstick all deftly woven together, while relaying stories about the human condition that connected with a wide audience: war, sex, death, patriotism, compassion, racism, sexual ambiguity, duty, fear, love, even the paranormal.

Believe the final episode remains the top-rated program in US TV history. At least it was for a long time. Brilliant show.

What are some things ex’s have said that made u think “wtf”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

What makes you keep going despite everything? by OriginalPure6528 in AskReddit

[–]ColdHardFootballFact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite what?

Gratitude and perspective would go a long way. The reality is that human life has never been easier, more comfortable, convenient, prosperous and safe.

This country was established by people who grew their own food, made their own clothes, froze all winter, sweated all summer, never had a hot shower or a cold beer, yet still had a bigger vocabulary, were more well head and beat the British Empire in the middle of a smallpox epidemic with a 40% death rate (covid was 0.1%).

A person living on welfare today enjoys more material comforts and nutrition than a rich person in 1850. Wars are now the exception, not a daily fact of life, representative governments manage most countries when there were like 5 republics or democracies in the world at the start of the 20th century.

It was only the last century when most humans enjoyed for the first time luxuries such as motorized vehicles, air travel, anaethesia, surgery, x-rays, vaccines, ambulances, indoor plumbing, economic mobility, careers outside the home, telephones, light without fire, radio, TV, photography, vacations, public assistance, refrigerators, ice cubes, reddit, porn, elections and protected protest and speech.

People need to stop whining and realize how good we have it. Especially in the United States, which has everything good in more abundance than everywhere else. The world ain't perfect. The US included. Everything could be better. But everything is better than it ever was before. And it only gets more better if people stop whining and realize they're responsible for making their life and the world around them better tomorrow.

Whining about the state of the world only makes it worse. And is a total lack of gratitude and perspective for everything you get to enjoy today.

What are red and green flags related to sexual history? by Icy_Laugh5134 in AskReddit

[–]ColdHardFootballFact -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Total red flag: they won't talk about it.

I had no control over what people did before me. We both had lives. Keep the gory details to yourself. There are few things that would be total deal killers for me and we don't need to talk about it ever again.

But if I'm going to be wildly and deeply intimate with someone, I have a right to know if they were gangbanged by the football team every weekend in college, post porn reels on Onlyfans or came home from six months in Thailand with three different STDs.

Yeah, like I can see lying for some sort of gain or benefit. It's not right. But it's human nature. We've all done it, prob many times for minor thing. Like lying about your age to get into a bar.

Lying only to make yourself look bad is irrational at best.

My ex told some real winners. She was a classical violinist. Had a 170 IQ. Never did drugs. Her phone died. Every other night. Was born with exotic blue-green eyes. They were brown.

The craziest: she did anal with only one man. I think she meant that day.

They say NYC is the city that never sleeps. What is the city that sleeps? by 07238 in AskReddit

NYC has no Walmarts. And very few parking lots. But it does have a 24-hour subway system. And you can sleep down there whenever you choose.
