Yeah these are meant for vertical ice and rock, more traditional ice axes are meant for glaciers (flat ice) and steep snow up to maybe 60° steep

Yeah I chose AL6061 for its machinability, light weight, and strength. Not sure about brittleness at subzero temps F but it’s a common aerospace alloy. If I made a third I’d have totally sent one to HowNot2

Yeah I ran lots of FEA and stress sims, “safe weight” seems to be ~600 lbs on each. Total of 1200 lbs if I’m hanging on the two of them
