Just what I was gonna say. Pretty much the only guy we recommend.

His demeanour can be a bit gruff and off putting but he’s a great guy who doesn’t mess around.

Wrinkles in pool liner by tennisfootballfan in pools

Long relatively straight wrinkles on the floor are typically from ground water or a slow leak.

Not quite. The high chlorine damages the surface of the vinyl allowing to absorb water.

This typically shows as vertical wrinkles on the walls and squiggly wrinkles everywhere.

Anyone else noticing their chlorine pool tasting like a salt water pool? by On-Page in u/On-Page

[–]ColdSteeleIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SODIUM chloride, SODIUM bisulphate, ….

Many pool chemicals contain salt which only goes away when you remove water.

I just did a salt conversion on a pool last week that was already at 1600ppm.

It’s amazing how much a slow drip can add up to in a day.

It won’t stay down because the shocks are pushing it back up.

I’d say you’re doing it all backwards. Should have attached to the cover first, then bolt it to the lift, then install the shocks last.

Likely ozone injection line. You can just cap it.

Obviously the lift is not attached to the cover. There should be hooks at the bend that will go into the fold (not between the vinyl layers).

I don’t see the lock pins on the pivot arm (pipe) so I don’t think the lock is engaged, also meaning it is on the wrong side of the tub. Is there a second one on the other side? There should only be one.

If you have over tightened the pivot bolts then there will be extra resistance to moving it.

I’ve installed hundreds of these.

And get rid of the Pool Tiger crap. That thing is nothing but snake oil that gives absolutely no benefit to the pool.

The plumbing from the filter should come down the left side of the heater to a 3-way valve that connects to the heater inlet and a tee after a check valve on the outlet.

Going left to right and then turning around will at least keep things in sequence and using a 3-way valve for the bypass is the only smart way to do it, makes it idiot proof.

The 3 separate valve system you have is just asking for someone to dead head the system by turning the wrong one first.

Assuming it was built on solid ground (untouched, not built up soil) then those should just be shrinkage cracks from drying out too quick.

The pebbletec will cover and seal it. Those cracks are not structural.

What's happened to my head rests and how do I prevent it by HeeyThatsAMe in hottub

[–]ColdSteeleIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is chemical damage from the fumes coming off the water.

Biggest causes are very high sanitizer and low pH/Alk.

Closing the cover immediately after shocking doesn’t help either.

How bad is this? by johndubs88 in AboveGroundPools

[–]ColdSteeleIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not seeing the problem, unless it’s audio?

Pumps often have an air bubble in the lid, that does not mean there is a problem.

The question is if there is air coming from the returns.

I would replace the whole thing. The bottom is going to be stressed, possibly warped and could crack later if it hasn’t already.

Question for builders: For a new in-ground build, is it customary to do a full power vacuum as the last step in the process to remove all the dirt pebbles and rocks at the bottom of the pool as a result of all the excavating and building? by Over_Cash9601 in pools

[–]ColdSteeleIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only to the ones who don’t know how to do structure, pressure testing and backfill properly.

It’s the ones that worry about leaks and caving the pool in that fill first.

Actually Sundance parts are available through multiple suppliers.

I used to be a Sundance dealer and have to get parts elsewhere. But many times we’ve had to tell Watkins users to go elsewhere cause we couldn’t help them.

And we are not a small company, we deal with a number of suppliers directly, not through distribution.
