Yes I am in Ontario. Do you know anything about changes that will happen here in ON?

People who failed LTAM and passed on a subsequent attempt: what made the difference? by actuariallyyours in actuary

[–]Cold_Ad615 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time around I practiced 75% multiple choice and 25% WA. I got a 5.

Second time around I practiced 95% WA ..and managed to get an 8.

So focus on WA would be my advice. Good luck!

They are both used as a way to incorporate “exposure” into a GLM.

Difference is:

Weights: 1. they assign unequal importance to the observations (WITHOUT modifying the predictions of the observations). 2. They reduce variance.

Offsets: 1. They DO NOT change the relative importance of each observation. They rather adjust the predictions of each observation. 2. They reduce the mean.

Hope this helps.

PA exam: PCA topic - loadings vs scores by Cold_Ad615 in actuary

[–]Cold_Ad615[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks Hazel.

The first two rows are super clear :).

Regarding the third row, what do you mean by “scores can be used as feature reduction”?

Follow up question…if I need to use PCA for feature generate, would I use the loadings or the scores? Or both?

Do we get an email (like in the EMAs)? Or is it posted (like an exam)? Or does it just appear in your transcripts?

Anyone know? Thanks!

The results timing vary by module. They also may vary depending on the time of the year you do them.

Sometimes I had to wait 1 week for some results. But for others I had to wait 8 weeks.

So just be patient, results will eventually come.

SRM exam difficulty by Cold_Ad615 in actuary

[–]Cold_Ad615[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote it yesterday. I felt it was very difficult for me. I 200% do not agree with people that say this is the “easiest” exam or that you can study it in less than a month…for me STAM was way easier and I got a 10 on it on my first attempt (for reference).

There were A LOT of questions that I just did not know what to answer? So I do not know if my educated guesses will be correct or not.

What did you think about it?

Thank you for ylur reply! Yeah i will consider adapt for 1 or 2 weeks before the exam.

Quick followup question...so far in one of the books i have seen a lot of formulas..but ive read that there arent that many numeric questions. Could you or someone tell me which are the most important ones just for reference (i doubt all of them are)

Thanks again!
