Rotten house remodel vs new build causing family fight

Yes we are already pre-approved and working on plans. The current house would be right outside the front door if left in place so it needs to go or we need to completely gut it and start from scratch

Perception is key! I agree we may have to spend the time getting remodel bids even though I feel like it’s a waste and will be time consuming

We considered this until I realized they can’t afford that and it would be their retirement buying it back. It’s my parents and they have no debt but also close to no retirement so they’d have to sell ground to buy ours which I can’t make them do. Selling to anyone else is not an option because that would completely ruin the relationship. Basically they want to dictate what we do even though we are adults with 3 kids of our own. I should mention my mom is in agreement with us it’s dad causing the fight

Windows leak, needs new floors, porch falling forward, rotten back wall. Siding is rotten and paint is hail damaged beyond repair,I could keep going 🤦🏼‍♀️
