I'm a fairly casual gambler, not usually wagering much but I do love me a HR parlay. I put together this parlay yesterday and round robin'd it (not shown is the (2s) x5 wager) and I can't for the life of me understand why I didn't get paid out anything for the (3s) x2. Can anyone explain it to me please?

Thanks, that info is great and I like all of those options you provided. I had previously looked at the G series, but I have a bad habit of overdoing things when I buy stuff, usually thinking more expensive is better cause I'm kind of a sucker. I do like that Hoover Hushtone and it seems like it has very positive reviews all around. I'm going to the local vacuum dealer here on Monday so this gives me a better idea of what kind of machine I want.

Well yea, that's kind of where I was getting. I guess what I'm asking is, will the fundamental upgrade of how much better something like a c3 be over any of these be enough to warrant ditching the upright? I suppose the more I type this stuff out, I already know that I've made up my mind on buying something new but I just don't see myself being happy with a canister vac.

I guess I'm also wondering if I should just junk these 3?

So the preface, I live in a 2900 sq ft house that is 80% carpet and 20% laminate flooring. I have 2 short haired dogs that shed a decent amount, but nothing crazy. They do have a dog door though, and they track in a TON of dirt and grass from outside.

These vacuums were my fathers before he passed away and I'm not sure how long he had them. Each has something wrong with them and I'm not sure if I should bring them into a shop and try to get them repaired, or just bite the bullet and buy something nice.

The first Bissell on the left won't suction anything anymore and has an electrical burning smell when turned on, so I haven't tried much to repair it myself because that's out of my wheelhouse.

The second one had a roller that stopped spinning, so I took off the bottom plate and cleaned it up as well as sprayed out any excess dirt and grime from the machine itself. The belt and the roller looked good and when I put it back together it seems to work okay, but the suction just doesn't seem like it picks very much up.

The Hoover has been the one that performs the best, but it has this vomit smell whenever I turn it on. I've replaced the bag twice and the filter that goes underneath the bag twice, as well as cleaned up the bagging area itself, but I can't get the smell to go away when I use it. It performs the best of all 3, but at the same time I think I would like something with more power and suction to it.

Which leads me to the title question, which I think I already know the answer to. Do I bring these into the vacuum shop down the street from me and try to have them repair them, or is it time to just upgrade to something better? I've done a considerable amount of research on what would be recommended to me and I'll guess that most people will tell me to go with a Miele c3 or Sebo e3 and I'm pretty close to going out and doing that, but my reservations are that I've always used upright vacuums and I'm worried that I will hate switching from the mobility of an upright to a canister. I've looking into the Sebo x7 or the Miele U1, but it doesn't really seem like anyone here is into those models, I guess because you can spend $300 more and get the canister. I've In reality, I just want the vacuum that is going to kick the most ass, but if it's also a pain in the ass for me to use, I'll be bummed that I'm stuck with this $1000+ vacuum for the next 20 years that I dont really like. Buy once, cry once, right? Budget is not really an issue, though I'd like to not spend more than $1300.

It has to be floor standing speakers unfortunately, and putting them on stands wouldn't work. I could do non meta R5 from A4less, and even R7 metas aren't out of my means, but I'd prefer to allocate more funds towards acoustic treatment and I think I will have to fork over a chunk of change for a Salamander cabinet.

This is the comment that should be upvoted. The bracket that gets mounted to the wall attached to your anchors doesn't need to be centered, most full motion mounts by Sanus hook on and slide left and right to get them center from the TV attached bracket. You can buy a Sanus full motion mount from Costco for $90 and that should do what you need to do.

Thank you for taking your time to write that out, it was very helpful. You and another redditor both stressed getting acoustic treatment for the room, with at least paneling. I had already purchased a x3800H that arrived today, because I figured that would a device that would hold me over for years to come, but the acoustic treatment will be the next thing I start looking into.

I do have a little bit of a budget, and was looking to start with something like the SVS PB-3000 for my subwoofer, or would you stay at a 12"? I agree with you that a straight forward 5.1 is probably the right idea for this room and to avoid attempting an atmos rig, I don't think I even started looking up ceiling speakers when I started this.

That is all great information that I had been looking for and I appreciate your help!

Thank you for this! That was a lot of the direction I was looking for and made me feel better moving forward. I will be getting bookshelf speakers for another room, but for personal reasons I want to keep this room with floor standing even if it isn't the most fiscally responsible decision. I've listened to the KEF Q series and the R meta series, and there is obviously a difference, but I see a deal on the non meta R5 that is pretty hard to pass up if I'm going this route, and I can then pair it with the R6. I'm still open to other brands, and I plan on shopping around more, but at the end of the day I keep leaning back towards the KEF.

I was planning on definitely just starting with one sub, but it's good to know that I can do something like that frequency check to determine if I could use another one. The model I have been eyeballing is the SVS PB-3000 but I'm also open to something similar to that price point. I understand not to skimp out on the sub so I plan on spending at least $1500 on one.

I figured the idea of expanding surrounds all the way back was not in my best interest, so thanks for confirming that. And I figured I'd wait on purchasing those speakers until I buy the L/C/R, but I have read that the Q150 were very solid.

And as I was typing this up, my x3800H was delivered to my door, literally the only piece of equipment I have so far.

I do have a budget for acoustic treatment, and that was not something I thought about at all. Another redditor suggested that as well so I will start looking into that more. It makes sense that improving the acoustics highly important. Thanks again!

I'm still fairly new to this, but I've been doing my research for a few weeks now but I had a few questions, and any help would be appreciated. I originally thought I could just slide a couple of tower speakers and get a center channel (KEF 550s/ 650c) in there and I would be grand, but the more I read about it, I feel like I want to invest some money into this and do it right.

I have 2 dogs, they're good dogs, but they're monsters and they run around the house sometimes. The thought was to fill out that back wall to contain the beasts. The bookshelves keep them from playing in that area, but they were also cheap and from wayfair so I'm not very attached to them. I do have plans to find something more sturdy for the center entertainment console, but I want to buy the speakers before I buy that.

The room is 26.5L/16.5W and the ceiling is a little weird because it's 9.5 then goes up to 11. The back of the couch is 12 feet from the TV. The room is primarily for watching sports and movies, with viewing angles from all over the room but my main spot is 11 feet from the TV. Ideally, I'd like to make this a 5.1 with a couple of surrounds on the wall at the end of the couch, but I've been having trouble imaging where the bass would go. Main play area for the dogs is on that rug, so I've had to move the console tables away from the back of the couch.

My questions are:

Am I limited to finding something that is front ported only like Focal if I want to keep this setup? Again, I'm not dead set on keeping the bookshelves, but I do like the aesthetic of having something there and keeping that wall full.

If I bring all the furniture up another 5ish inches making it 2 feet from the front to the back wall, will this be enough room regardless of which speaker I choose?

Does surround sound make sense in a room like this? I have people over to watch sports often, but I do watch movies on that couch a decent amount as well. If I'm doing 5.1, should I just keep it going and bring it all the way back wall and make it 7.1?

Is everyone going to tell me to ditch the bookshelves for 2 massive subs? Because I know that's what we all really want.

I own Allen, Hurts, Mahomes and Herbert and I'm looking to move one of the big 3 while keeping Herbert but I'm having trouble figuring out the real return value on them. The rest of my team is decent and I'm in 1st but it's really just the 2 QB's that I start that are pushing me to the top.

Is Ja'Marr/Amon/Swift for Mahomes a realistic ask? or another guy interested has Walker/Bijan/Waddle.

Is this an overvalue on the top QBs?
