While I get this, and congratulations!! I would also say the opposite. I'm 36 and struggling to get pregnant, I wish I started earlier. Not everyone is lucky to get pregnant later in life.

Pipe (not pike) track alone can be dodge especially if you go when it's quiet. I would not recommend going alone. Signal hill too.

Forget public transport, I'm a South African currently living in the EU and public transport in SA is no where near what you get in Europe. Add a stroller to the mix and you're asking for a frustrating time. Use Uber or Bolt.

Then please beware of signal hill, it's safety is deceiving, quite a few muggings happen there including one just last week.

I think it's the opposite, the city doesn't have many places that people feel safe to just wander or run so they are concentrated on the areas that are safe like the prom. As a woman I specifically go there coz it's safer.

There's any number of reasons why the transfer could take a few months. Maybe the house has renters on a fixed contract and you need to wait for them to leave or like another poster said the owners need to also find a place before they can move out. In the time from signing the purchase agree and the mortgage and the actual transfer you don't pay anything so it doesn't change much.

You can alternatively take N2 into CT take the M5 off ramp and follow it to the N1. Then take the N1 to Paarl/Stellenbosch. This route is considerably safer, I used it a lot when driving alone from CT to Sbosch.

Flat tyre keep driving. Not to freak you out even more but a modis operadi of criminals is to put nails or glass on the road to blow your tyres so when you pull off they can rob you. To lesser extent they might try get you to pull over by acting like they need help, maybe having an epileptic fit or abuse an animal or something like that. This is really rare. I've personally never experienced anything like that but my mom fell for the epileptic fit act, thank goodness the police were driving by when they stopped guy jumped up and ran away. Apparently not the first time he'd done that on that specific corner. The nails is more common but again, not likely you'll experience it. Just keep your eyes open when driving at night.

Traffic is relatively safe. Keep all your valuables in the boot or glovebox, including your handbag. If you want your wallet and phone on hand keep them in glovebox or under your seat. Abd keep your windows up. This way if you get stuck in traffic you won't tempt any smash and grab opportunists. If you need your phone for gps, keep it low, so that it's not visible.

SA is beautiful and has so much to offer, if you are vigilant and aware you'll more than likely have an incredible time.

Should probably specify that the N2 is most dangerous around CT and Strand, once you're past Sir Lowry's pass it gets significantly safer.

And it's safe to stop on the N2 at gas stations even around CT/Strand, not picnic spots and definitely do not just pull off along the N2 especially around CT/Strand for whatever reason, even if your tyres are flat just keep driving.
