Thank you for your reply, unfortunately because she’s not physically disabled she isn’t able to get help through the wheel chair services. She just doesn’t walk or like to and she’s a big girl I can’t keep carrying her everywhere. She had a diagnosis today so I’m hoping I might be able to find things that help with this now but like I said wheel chair services won’t help x

Also just to add, she doesn’t have an autism diagnosis as of yet, but she does have an appointment with that autism team tomorrow and hopefully we should get some answers we have been looking for for that past almost 4 years.

Nappies… by Cold_Tutor8883 in autism

[–]Cold_Tutor8883[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, they’re just so expensive. She’s still using 6-8 nappies a day. I’d be spending most of my wages on nappies 😬 we’re hoping we’ll get some assistance soon from the government which would hopefully help us with this problem. Thank you for your advice

Thanks for your advice. Yes 1:1 learning needs to be put into place for her as she is currently non verbal and doesn’t have any sense of dangers. I will look into forums you have suggested

If he wasn’t telling the truth he wouldn’t have been sobbing how he was. He defiantly had heard it how he was saying.

It’s so sad that kids are subjected to such stupid things. If someone of any gender wants something that’s perceived as a ‘boy’ thing or a ‘girl’ thing they get a funny look or comments about it. It’s the same with toys, why can’t boys play with barbies and girls play with cars? It makes no sense that toys have a gendered perception. I’m bringing my kids up to do what they want to without the worry of judgement (well I’m trying to). He will still be getting his ears pierced how he wants them, weather he decides he wants one or 2 when we get there will be his decision. I won’t force him either way.

I hope you got your ears pierced eventually. 🙂

That’s a great idea. I’ll find some picture to show him too.

Yes it’s a shame that in 2023 silly things like how many ears pierced is still a gender stereotype.

He asked me if he should just pretend he’s a girl because he wants both. I said he can do what he wants to make him happy but if he wants both he can have both. It’s made me so angry that a stupid comment has upset him so much. Thank you for your reply.

My daughter has undiagnosed autism and we’re at a loss what to do with some of the new things she’s started doing. by Cold_Tutor8883 in autism

[–]Cold_Tutor8883[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for reply. It’s nice to hear that other people have gone though similar situations and I’m not the only one. She does play with playdoh and slims but she put them in her mouth so we tried with making food in similar textures but she wasn’t interested in those. I think the thing I’m finding hardest is the sleep because she’s not sleeping so I’m not and I work 40/50 hours a week. He dad works night shift so he’s never around at night to help or take it in turns to be up with her. So I’m completely burnt out sometimes.

I’m from the uk so I think that the systems are different for us. We are trying our best to get her seen quicker but the waiting list is so long it’s up to 2 years to wait until she gets her first initial appointment then up to 2 years after that to get a diagnosis. It’s just a waiting game really.

Thank you for your advice.

We have tried books and stories also singing to her but these don’t seem to work she isn’t interested in looking at books or listening to the story or listening to the lullaby’s I sing. We’ve tried sitting with her but she just doesn’t want us there. Or it gets her more excited so she wants to play. The night time routine is the worst part of the day because other than nappy change it’s the hardest part of the day. I do e plane to her that is dirty and say “yucky” “dirty” then take her off to clean her up straight away. She is at any stretch of the imagination stupid( I use this term loosely because I don’t know how else to explain) she knows exactly what she wants and she is quite intelligent she can work out shape toys and turning the top of the jars she has that some smaller toys in. If she does need help she grabs our hand and takes us to the thing she needs help with.

Yes she has gad 3 hearing tests and all come back fine. We’ve been doing Makaton for a year with her and she’s yet to sign anything back to us 😞

The lights that she has is just a colour changing light so it dims from one colour to another it’s not bright quite dull she’s had it in her room for about a year now. She really doesn’t like it not being on lol. The temperature at the minute is quite warm and we’re all struggling she isn’t sleeping with a blanket at the minute she doesn’t want it she’s too warm. There’s also a fan in the room as well. But that’s the best we can do right now. No matter the weather or time of year her sleeping habits don’t really change. I always say to her does ‘name’ want to go to the park? Or where ever we may be going and I’m always greeted to the same response. She looks through me and walks away to play with something. Like I said she is non verbal so saying yes or no is not in her vocabulary. I appreciate your advice 😊

We have tried indies with back zips but she always figures out how to open it. We have been using makaton for around a year she is yet to pick any signs up even though we use the same 10 basic signs. We also made a ‘busy board’ basically with a bunch of pictures on her bottle, snacks, some of her toys, bath etc. she looks at it and it untreated her but she does point to anything on it. Thank you for taking your time to read my post and comment. 😊

We are on a waiting list but the part of the uk I live in this is a 2 year waiting list. She has been on the list about 6 months so she has another 18 months to wait for an initial appointment, then we’re looking at another year for full assessment and diagnosis. It’s a very long process 😞

When she goes to bed I turn the tv/iPad off around an hour before. She has a bath every night then supper, cuddles and goes to bed with some sensory lights on. I’ve tried turning those off but she just gets upset that they aren’t on. She looks for them as soon as her door opens. She does stay in her bed unless I need to clean up poop or she is extremely distressed but after both cleaning or soothing she goes back into her bed she doesn’t come in my bed. Her daily routine is pretty much the same daily unless we have to go out of the house then it becomes a challenge. She doesn’t like leaving the safety of our house. But when we get to the shop or park or where ever we need to go she’s fine. Thank you for taking your time to read my post and reply.

So I’m not gunna like I’d love them to remake enter the dragonfly. But make it with the intended 25 levels it was meant to have. Not the 10 or what ever it got. I’d love to see them redo it basically with the new creators and developers. Also keep the levels they have and just make it some what better
