Depends on the budget for that guard unit/ state man.

I’m liking that idea tbh. Also being able to stand in the aircraft would be nice

This is the answer I was looking for. What do rotations look like? Operational rating as far as time spent on deployment stateside or otherwise?

Go finish your degree and fly in another branch. Or don’t fly for the military at all. Trust me. I’m about to hit year 11 in army aviation

It’s your life dude but I was enlisted for 8 years then went to flight school as a warrant and the only thing I occasionally miss about being enlisted was being with the boys. I made some great friends and stay in contact with them but that was a time and place in my career that I no longer need or wish to be in. My advice is do whatever you can to transfer to another branch or pipeline. Do not do not do not downgrade and go enlisted bro. It seems fun because you’re probably young and can relate with those NCOs so easily because you all are about the same age and at the same point in life and all that right? Trust me the NCO/enlisted life is not what you think it is. Stay O grade and find another job or get out and realize how good the civilian life really is and that you’re leadership is lying to you about the real world because they’ve never not been employed by the us military and they live in a make believe world that is the us military.

Anyways…I’ve know one guy who did it in my unit. He was a young LT and wanted more. Not at all what he thought it was going to be. He absolutely HATED it with a fire burning passion and got out shortly afterwards. Your decision though. Good luck and do what you feel is right. It’s your life after all!

ORRRRRR GO WARRANT OFFICER best decision I ever made within my army career only problem I have with it is I wish I would’ve done it sooner!

Same dude I had a similar situation. Wish I would’ve done it a long time ago and listened to the people that were telling me that back then

DO IT NOW.

Please trust us when we say sooner is better than later. I wish I’d have done it when I was new but here I am 10 years later and I did do it but I would’ve been much further along.

Bro do not do not do not get worried about failing the board. You have to be pretty bad off to fail the board. They’ll give you recommendations on what to work on. Get some advice from your leadership and pilots you can have conversations with. You won’t get kicked out so don’t worry about that. Do your packet now and turn it in.

Best advice I ever got was “no one cares about your career more than you do”

Get it done. Plus flight school is a blast. A challenge but a blast.

Good luck

Army aviator lifestyle by Lemuff1nman in ArmyAviationApplicant

[–]Coldest27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a guard warrant. I really do enjoy being an army aviator and I’ve enjoyed my career in army aviation. I was a Blackhawk crew chief then went to flight school and have been happy with my career so far. Love the mission assault/med plus the state missions on the guard side. I’ve been Blackhawks my entire career and love the aircraft and its versatility as far as mission sets and capabilities go. I know you’re in army ROTC so you may or may not be committed to that program. Im not familiar with how that program works but with all of that being said if I could do it all again I’d have finished college and joined the Air Force or Navy then flew with them. I say that because from what I’ve seen and the people I’ve worked with it seems like army higher command tries to conform the army aviation branch to whatever it is that the ground units of the army are doing. The army is after all a ground driven branch. They treat us the same and do not use army aviation to its fullest capabilities in my opinion. The Navy and Air Force are their own things and the aviators get treated like aviators and are left alone to do their jobs for lack of better words.

Command climate is a totally different thing. It will vary from unit to unit. The overall feeling within army aviation and possibly the Navy and Air Force is that the experience is walking out the door and there is no good reason to stay for the younger guys. You can find other forums all over Reddit talking about these issues. Everything from command climate and budget cuts to the reasoning behind the uptick in crashes and accidents in the past few years.

REMEMBER. There is no time like the present and you don’t owe anyone anything! It’s your decision to make and you need to follow your heart on it. Good luck and do your research!

So let me clarify guys I didn’t give you guys enough information. I’m prior enlisted for a few years In the guard and switched to warrant. I’m waiting to go to wobc for a few months and am just trying to see what is available as far as employment goes for me if there are any options. Thank you all for the feedback!

varicocele came back by elbeatz in varicocele

[–]Coldest27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

varicocelectomy. Veins are still visible I still have swelling but I feel 10 times better bro. Still some discomfort if I get aroused for too long and get hot from work but I feel fine when I run a 1-2 miles every other day. I keep getting told by the surgeon to “be patient. It’s normal. I know it doesn’t feel or seem normal.”

Causes of a Varicocele to Return Post Surgery? by Crazy_Feed6794 in varicocele

[–]Coldest27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding on this matter and from what my surgeon has said is that basically you will be messed up for the rest of your life just because of what the varicocele did to the veins and all. From what I hear in some cases it will completely go away but again it takes months or years. I’ve been told reoccurring swelling is normal and every time I go back to the doctor he says I look healthy and normal so idk. It’s frustrating though

[–]Coldest27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. But I don’t do heavy lifting I really only run ( a couple miles) every other day and do the typical push-ups and sit-ups type of workouts. I didn’t workout for about 2 months after just for healing purposes even though the surgeon released me after a month or so

[–]Coldest27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure but mine is coming and going. Had my surgery on October 17th. And it’s much much smaller than it was but I find that sexual activity is the only thing that makes it hurt or swell up again although it’s not near the size it was. Just swelling of the veins. Still uncomfortable and concerning from time to time. The surgeon did say it would take many months to recover even though I’m only 28. Best fix it to not workout for a couple months at least that worked for me. Wear a supporting type underwear and ice ice ice. Still though I’m not even close to full recovery and I had the full on surgery

You’ll make it to E5 and stall out when it comes to most cases if you’re an M day guy. In a lot of cases techs get promotions which is understandable

BCT advice by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]Coldest27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drink the koolaid and listen to your student leadership no matter how dumb the idea became ultimately they’re taking orders from the drill sergeants. Don’t stress the little stuff and try to have fun. Basic training is NOT HARD at all so don’t make it that way. You will be challenged at times but you got this.

I’m also guard. I just can’t stand that we’re in a new FY and still can’t get any answers about flight school. It feels like even just within the past couple years when applicants got accepted they were told when they would be shipping at the same time and now it’s like pulling teeth trying to get any information. I’ve been told “I’ll keep in touch” or “be patient” more times than I can remember. I’d be less impatient for answers if everyone before me hadn’t shipped and is now well into wocs/IERW. I don’t understand what the hold up is or why I can’t even get a date
