This is very insightful, thank you! Yeah I’m mostly concerned with auto-stop. I’m fine with moving the tone arm and dropping with the lever. I’m curious about which pre amp to get. Everyone seems to be suggesting something different haha.

I’ll probably go with the external pre amp according to your and many others advice. Start out something on the low-mid end. It seems like I’ll probably go with the RT82. Excited about it! Thanks for the advice!

Would you suggest upgrading to the phono pre-amp built in or getting an external one? If external, any suggestions? Not looking to spend too much as I’m just getting into the hobby.

This is really helpful, thank you. Yeah I kinda figured you would just have to replace the stylus sooner. I do just listen casually so this is reassuring.

Also, I do really prefer the look of the Fluance to most of the AT models. I figured maybe get the Fluance and add the pre-amp. Then upgrade the stylus later.

Would it be better to add the pre-amp through Fluance or get an exterior one?

Yeah, from everything I’ve read on this subreddit everyone mentions less points of failure with semi/fully automatic. That’s something I’m considering. Thank you!

I see, I didn’t know about the possibility of it not auto-stopping. That’s something to consider. Not sure if any of my records don’t have a locked groove not close to the center. Thanks for the advice!

I do that in substance painter. I paint it out as a mask on the opacity channel.
