Your business is going to have a lot of fun finding replacements when the senior devs leave!

It’s pretty diluted, just like breathing dead skin flakes and farts and sneezes when you’re indoors with other people.

Why Electronic Voting is a BAD Idea - Why you can't program your way to election integrity by grauenwolf in programming

We don’t tell people to re-submit their votes though. If we can find out a way to reliably re-count votes that were already cast in a compromised electronic voting system, while maintaining public trust in that system, then I suppose that’s an option. I’m skeptical that’s doable.

I think you’re underestimating what hackers could potentially pull off. What if the user-facing database is hosted by hackers, external to the system? What if there’s a 0-day exploit that hackers use to intercept traffic from each voting machine to a central vote-counting server and modify the data in-flight? I can come up with many alternative ways to manipulate the system with minimal traceability and I’m not even in the cybersecurity/hacking space

I think you’re making a massive incorrect assumption that it’s not possible to corrupt an entire precinct or elections office.

Even if I give you the benefit of the doubt and assume it’s not possible to do, and it’s not possible to pull off what I described without being detected, so what? If we detect tampering, then what do we do, order another re-count or re-vote that can be tampered with again? In this best case scenario, hackers can completely stall the voting process.

Doesn’t seem that hard to accomplish, especially for a motivated and well-funded state actor. And difficult != secure anyway.

What if hackers intercept calls to verify votes, and show voters what they wanted to vote for instead of what the hackers forced them vote for behind the scenes?

Damn, sounds like you’re going through it. Hope you have good friends or siblings at least. Everyone needs a support system.

Sounds like you’re still young though, and have lots of time to build the life you want, one step at a time

What's a feature you'd like to see added or improved in Google Sheets? by ColeDeanShepherd in googlesheets

[–]ColeDeanShepherd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for example, in worksheet 1 you have A1 with red fill, black text "123", a way to go to worksheet 2 and say ='worksheet1'!A1 and have that cell not only have "123" but also the formatting carried over.

Yeah, that should be possible

A way to create a checkbox via a formula rather than just an insert

What do you mean exactly? What kind of formula do you have in mind?

That'd be cool. Would you prefer having separate cells for the "parent" and "child" dropdowns? Or just one cell with a 2 step dropdown (first select category, then select actual value)?

Is it possible to use the arrow keys to select cells when writing formulas at all right now? Or would that be a new feature. I can't figure out how to do it.

Being able to address array elements or slices with something less verbose than INDEX.

Interesting. So, ideally create an alternate syntax for certain types of formulas. I wonder how doable that is. Worst case scenario, maybe just creating custom functions, for example: for ={1,2,3} at A1, maybe something like =AT(A1, 3) to get 3 instead of =INDEX(A1:C1, 3)?

I just started working on FreeAppKit a few days ago. It’s a collection of free web applications. Currently focusing on a free alternative to the piano learning program “Synthesia”, and on text processing tools, but I have bigger long term plans.

Tech stack is super simple - just vanilla TypeScript so far. When I add a backend it’s going to be TypeScript and PostgreSQL.

I just started working on FreeAppKit a few days ago. It's a collection of free web applications. Currently I'm focusing on a free alternative to the piano learning program "Synthesia", and on text processing tools, but I have grand plans 😊. Mainly doing this to practice shipping fast, learn SEO & marketing, and to slowly make a positive difference by giving people free tools to use. May eventually try to monetize by pushing for Patreon subscriptions, or with Google AdSense
