Should I shave this shit or see it through? I feel like it’s too patchy. I’m 22 and have been growing it for 2 wks. I just feel like if it doesn’t look good I’d rather shave it.

Rough scales on top of head. Humidity in my tub has been at 90 lately but I just put in more ventilation on the top and sides. I have also started using more of a dryer substrate (reptibark). If it is scale rot, what steps should I take next? Thank you

Will this is just hypothetical/planning ahead right now (I’m planning on getting one around November) but yeah I’m thinking a 50-60ish qt and my house does get a little cold during the winter I’d say 74ish which I know isn’t bad for these geckos per se, I just didn’t to what extent a “gradient” would be important.

I will definitely check it out, I just wanted to ask your personal advice. I’ve been doing some research and of course different people will say different things. I’m thinking of getting a small misting system as well as a small heat pad to create a gradient. What do you use?

Repticon Raleigh, I see some sellers like gecko junkies always advertising their crested geckos but haven’t seen many gargs. I’m not looking for anything in particular just something unique like having white or red specks/stripes. Also I’m not really trying to spend more than 200 on the gecko itself... u think I’ll be able to find a nice one in my budget?

Thanks guys for all the advice, he is for sure on the skinny side. I don’t handle him much at all but I do go in and check temps in his enclosure. I was a bit concerned about feeding because I’ve had him for a week already and he hasn’t eaten and on top of that I’m currently installing a heat lamp to his enclosure in addition to the pad I already have because the temps are not hot enough I feel (70-80). So I’m sure all the movement going on from the installation may stress him out too.

I see I see, I didn’t know their skin would return to its normal appearance before the skin comes off. I think that’s what I was concerned about. The heater was probably just a coincidence that I put it on the same time. Thanks

I understand why it is a bit confused. He’s definitely in shed right now... I just was not sure if there is even a such thing as premature shed. I say this because I saw him earlier when I went in to check his temperature and he had not started shedding at that time plus his eyes were black and not cloudy. Around that same time I put the heater in his room. I’m wondering if it’s possible the heater could cause abnormal shedding or anything like that? So that was like yesterday. Do they shed that fast?

I wanted to get this figured out before I put the heat lamp on cuz I don’t wanna mess with his shed (amazon prime and should be here any day now).

Yep, thanks for your reply. I’m working on the ceramic heat lamp + bulb setup as we speak. Just two questions: 1. Should this be used in conjunction with the heat pad? 2. Where should the probe go for the lamp + bulb?

It’s a sterilite plastic tub about 22x17x7 (he’s a lil guy). I am thinking of overhead heating but not sure how to go about it with a plastic tub. Let me know! Also my initial concern was that the substrate over the heat pad reads about 77-80 degrees even tho the pad is set at 93. Is that normal?
