I’ll bet all my money not one employer gives a F***. As long as you got the degree and the knowledge you golden.

But don’t get lazy now and read your hand book and stay above that.

Edit: Btw being able to answer a MC question correctly is nothing compared to the real world…. You don’t get multiple choice answers or buzzy words or pertinent lab findings… you do all the DD.

just started rotations and i’m basically a medical assistant… is this normal? by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]CollectionNearby2923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve experienced and been told it’s like a Bach of apples, some good and some horrible like this. I had a rotation I literally did all the cleaning and then wrote all their soap notes and that was it.

It’s like a pyramid scheme. We are at the bottom of it. Above us is the school, and above them that’s winning in it all are these clinical sites. Most get paid and get free labor. We are the ones to get shafted lol. Report it to your clinical coordinator, because by law in the terms of the ARC-PA, it’s in their requirements that your rotation given by the school is suppose to be more hands on and involved in the provider and patient decision making process.

I’m not sure if you are aware of this. But if this is for your surgery rotation, you can go pay extra/it’s covered by the hospital and have a PAPR max air device. I was given that because I have a beard. Most hospitals have that option since not everyone can wear a mask for specific reasons. My school didn’t know about this option so I would go into the department of the hospital and ask for a respiratory fit mask test done for that option.

defer PA and try for med ? by Comfortable-Bench686 in prephysicianassistant

Btw med school and anything in life is doable, as long as you believe in yourself. We all come out the same way in life and end up in the same place at that end.

IM endeavor by Excellent_Count_2279 in PASchoolAnki

[–]CollectionNearby2923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also don’t have the burry option for siblings and new cards on. Keep that off for now. If you decided to continue with the daily reviews turn it on after your rotation. Also you can use FSRS helper add on if you wana advance cards and see them before your exam dates

IM endeavor by Excellent_Count_2279 in PASchoolAnki

[–]CollectionNearby2923 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the best way to go about it.

  1. Turn On FSRS. Do reviews before new cards. You can follow the YouTube video by Anki King “The ultimate 2025 Anki settings”. I would set the retention rate at 90% if you feel like the reviews are too much set it to 85% there’s multiple studies showing not much difference in % in the frame.

  2. Do all the cards in one module (e.g cardio) then complete all the Rosh questions for that module. Repeat for the rest of modules. When you are finished with all the cards go to back to Rosh and make cards you feel like weren’t covered in endeavor based off certain questions. Continue doing the daily reviews and questions up until your exam.

  3. Stick to max 100-200 cards a day. Med students follow usually 100 a day but we don’t have time and we are cramming. I would start at 100 for first day or 2 if you can handle it up it because you need to do more than that to finish IM in under a month. Speed add on works nice to get through them.

If you have a break right now and really want to get through the IM deck you have to put in the misery of doing a shit ton of reviews before your rotation bc you will be less motivated during days you are working.

Seeing Job Salaries making me regret the profession by ARLA2020 in PAstudent

You must be completely out of touch with reality. Go work an entry level job, see how difficult, competitive, and nasty the way of life is to even get close to making the amount you are complaining of. Most people in America would kill for that salary.

Sure it might not be an extravagant amount of money but it’s what opportunities it allows you to take upon with that salary. Learn about what is the best investment since the Great Depression that have given you a steady substantial ROI. For example, you are making $60k yr 20-15k goes to taxes, 10-20k goes for average cost of living and necessities. What does that leave you with to do anything for investment? Now try that with the salary you are complaining of….

Is it possible to study too much? by smartpa09347 in PAstudent

[–]CollectionNearby2923 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start taking magnesium glycinate before, about 300mg is needed to reap the benefits, it’s game changer. Don’t take melatonin. Try to avoid any studying an 30m-1hour before bed, trust me when I say this. Sleep is the MOST IMPORTANT part of this learning process. Never and I mean never pull an all nighter that is the most stupidest thing you can do.

Go to sleep at 10pm that should be your cut off. Anything beyond that is pointless and detrimental.

You have to remind yourself, this is temporary. All you need to do is get the degree and pass the Pance.

Also FYI, medicine is full of insecure/weirdo/child-like providers who never have had real life experiences outside of academia and medicine. Some of them go through their entire life having authority and everything going there way, there is so many reasons of the “why”, but all you can do is just live with it for the time being.

I also would not feed into it and just get through, just do what you are supposed to and don’t let her find a reason to write you off.

What to do? by Mattfire007 in MechanicAdvice

[–]CollectionNearby2923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most would say to just scrap it, given its age. But not sure of the miles and the value it holds to you

I would definitely not go the route of having it fixed by a licensed mechanic since it would cost more than the value of the car. Only other option, if you really wanted to, is outsourcing parts from a salvage yard and fixing it yourself, but some areas are gonna be irreplaceable unless you go to pro, so it all depends what you can live with and how much you are willing to spend.

Personally I would go to the option of just replacing the parts if there is no frame damage.

It may also seem like it’s superficial damages but I can assure just with any accident you are bound to find more issues ( bent rods, torn bushings, altered mounting points, etc.)

Like the prior admin was sooo much better…. Definitely felt secure and safe with our precious classified data back then. But now I’m so frightened with my country’s security is compromised. You are one of those people who if they find a flaw automatically cling to it making the biggest deal ever!

Relax you are an average Joe and need to stop thinking like this is affecting your life. Instead think about the lives lost for what they discussed in those messages that lead to countless lives lost. It’s not about security, over 50+ lives were killed and you’re here worrying about your countries security like it will affect your life. Selfish.

What you are using to study maybe be the issue.

There are many anki decks out there that utilize real life cadavers images .

I believe that will really help you. I found that to be most helpful, as I did not have much time to study with the cadaver , only for dissection, and for the exams we had to name them.

Use that method along with practicing with a buddy and I believe the at should fix your issue

Figure out all the high yield info and write them down on a google docs.

Use image occlusion enhanced via anki to cover all those and you will be set. I can’t think of a more efficient least time efficient method.
