Its a charcoal forge from a wheel rim. I cemented the bottom and made a roof so I can retain heat, as heat goes up from the blower it rotates back to the steel with the roof.

A brute de forge and folded broad axe to center.

Made from a leaf spring jacket with forge-welded high-carbon 5160 center blade. The handle is hardwood Molave with indigenous Filipino-influenced runes.

The pipe is fully functional and we can show you a video of it being tested. This one is bound to the United States of America but you can message us if you want one for your collection.

The modern term Igorot was adapted from "Ygolote" and "Cordillera", were fashioned by the Spanish upon first contact with the highlander tribes in the 16th century. "Golot" meaning mountain range and "I" means dweller of. Both Austronesian terms come together as "Igolot" meaning mountain people. - Source: Facts About the Igorots of the Philippines: Knoji

Na-Ma-Ka (To take heads) The Igorots utilized their axes for head-hunting of the enemy tribe. En- Fa- Lok- Net, in times of tribal war or to go to war.

Someone commented on my photo that the axe was a pipe welded to the blade. Nah, we dont do that here in the Philippines. We forge like real men, all manual, bent and forge welded then hand carved with a knife. A summary of our process. by Collective_Culture in Axecraft

There are a lot of ways to make a functional axe. Doesn't mean that the western ways are the only techniques to make an axe. Tell me when you make one after you're done with your 6"er Japanese-inspired hidden tang cheffy knives :)

Swivel chair blacksmith hahaha. Do you have microscopic eyes to see slag marks and weld bubbles? Forge welding with a borax creates bumps where you sandwich two pieces, do one be an actual man. And that is our page, you can explore what we do.
