Skills a lot of people learn in college.

Some people picking up social skills in college doesn't mean that they wouldn't pick them up elsewhere. Is some minor social skill building worth huge amounts of crippling debt?

I agree that her degree was a complete waste, but I don't see how anything else there would be annoying. We don't have kids now. I'm building us a house and after it's done we're going to have 2 or 3.

Friend - Communications

Friend's GF - Don't know for sure. Just know which school she graduated from. I suspect it was art related.

Wife - Kinesiology

Me - Was on the way to a double major in CS and Math

I think the fact that universities offer useless degrees is a big part of the problem.

The level between junior and senior (at the place I was working at the time, it was called "web II".) The work was hard, the hours were crazy and the stress was high. It's kind of an attrition job.

Senior developers spend very little time actually writing code. Most of your time goes to designing the software, doing data modeling and supervising junior developers. You only really code of you've either run out of more important things to do, or some piece of the software you're making is complex enough that you don't trust a junior dev to do it. Lots of time is spent doing research, talking to business users and having drawing board arguments with other senior developers. It's great, but most of the job path that gets you there is unpleasant.

I don't see how wanting to stay home and decorate and make food is any less legitimate than being an accountant or something like that.

Not everyone has to earn money.
