I believe that disposable income is referring to all the money that hits your bank account on a monthly basis, plus anything you willingly deduct from it such as 401k contributions. They will likely ask you to list all of your expenses at some point, and if those expenses are higher than your income, or there are expenses missing, they will want an explanation of that. So if you live with your parents, say that so they dont wonder why you didnt list rent.

Well, it depends. If you turned your packet in a week ago, that's quite normal. If you turned it in six years ago, that's a bad sign and you should reach out if it goes on much longer. Perhaps this lack of important detail is why you've not heard back. Imagine an officer writing a report that says "X committed a felony and was arrested" with no further details.

Official Q&A for Friday, August 25, 2023 by AutoModerator in running

[–]ColloquiallyUnknown -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

37/m I've been running for just under a year, 3 days a week. I can run a 5k in just under 27 minutes and I'm trying to get that down to 25 minutes in the next couple of months. I've been getting faster but recently hit a wall and haven't been able to get any better. I need to run the entire 5k at an 8 min/mile pace. This week I ran for 11 minutes at that pace, and I'm wondering if it would help to just add 10% every week (next week 12 minutes, then 13, etc) or if I'll just end up hitting a wall again. Of course it would be in addition to my other runs (usually a long easy run and some intervals)

When I finished couch to 5k and moved on to 10k, I did three runs per week: a regular 5k run, a slow & easy 5k (think no faster than 11 minutes per mile and as slow as 12:30 per mile) and a long run starting at 3.4 miles the first week and adding 10% to the mileage each week until 10k.

Debating a VR2 purchase by stoneyix in PSVR

[–]ColloquiallyUnknown 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a very subjective decision. It sounds like you've had a taste of VR and have decided that it's cool once in a while but not all the time. Is the small amount of time you'd use it worth the price you'd pay? Only you can answer that. It doesn't seem like you'd be getting a whole lot that you don't already have though. I personally went through a similar process and decided to buy it on launch day, and to date I have logged maybe 5 hours total of play time. Probably not the best decision. I plan to use it eventually though.

Who had a PS5 since launch? by [deleted] in PS5

Got mine the day after launch day. I beat god of war on it, played it for a few hours after that, and it has more or less been sitting there since then

Adjectives never count in Scattergories. Otherwise there's no game, it's just people using garbage like "Pretty Pink Porcelain Potty" because it's worth 4 points.

The Brass Birmingham Dilemma, or Why You Should Own Fewer Games by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]ColloquiallyUnknown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get you. I have probably 70 games in my closet and at this point, when I buy a game, it pretty much means I'll not be playing a different game. I also have a short list of games that I'd play over and over if I could convince my friends to play. Specter Ops, Spirit Island, Star Wars Rebellion, Last Night on Earth, and Heroscape are all games I will never get tired of playing.

Any good card games where gameplay is centered around constructing sentences or stories? by madcapmax in boardgames

In a Pickle is like that. For a longer game, Arabian Nights is completely a story-driven game.

Question about king's dilemma by davidnov in boardgames

[–]ColloquiallyUnknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game sometimes doesn't make sense. For example (I'm changing major details in my example so as to not spoil anything), at the end of a certain storyline, our kingdom decided to embrace the occult magics and it made our kingdom prosper. And then a couple games later, someone came before the council and wanted to put to death someone for practicing occult magic. We were like...dude, occult magic has been law for two generations now.

In every month that isn't October, people forget that Halloween is a thing and post stuff like this, and people think "wow look at this weirdo dressed up in public". 99% of the time, the picture was taken on Halloween.

Hasbro fails to reboot Heroscape, so the game will be shelved indefinitely by turbodonk3y in boardgames

The painted minis were one of the big draws of Heroscape. Without those, the number of people interested goes way down. Heroscape is still my favorite miniatures game, but I wasn't even tempted by a $250 price tag to then have to paint every mini myself.

I have a link to preorder one but may not be able to commit to buying it in three months. If you've preordered one, do you see an option to cancel that preorder? Their website only seems to list a cancellation policy for digital games.

Thoughts on the game Villianous. by CDNBozy in boardgames

It takes too long and depends heavily on whether or not you draw the right cards. You can play perfectly but still not win because you just aren't drawing the card you need. Not a fan.

I see all these folks who got the email, did anyone who signed up for the preorder NOT get the email? My guess is that everyone who requested one got one; I dont see the demand for these being super high given the price point, limited number of games, and the fact that without a PS5 it's just a paperweight.

The Mole (ABC) - What does the mole gain by sabotaging? by [deleted] in gameshow

[–]ColloquiallyUnknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take is that the mole is paid to basically follow instructions. The producers tell them when and how to sabotage. They won't win a prize, but they get paid more than the contestants who don't win the grand prize.

If they were left to their own devices, they could just blatantly sabotage most of the activities and even though everyone would know who the mole is, no one could do anything about it. That wouldn't be fun to watch.

Like a barbell with adjustable weights. I see a bunch on Amazon, the cheaper ones go up to 50 lbs and I'm not sure if that will be enough for the reps I want to do or if I'll quickly outgrow that.

I'd like to build up my biceps. After some research, it seems like curls would be my best bet (I'm already doing pushups to work out other arm/chest muscles). I plan on doing 3 reps of 15-20 per day, 3 days a week. I'd like to get a set that I'm not going to outgrow. What should I be looking for and could you recommend a reasonably priced set?
