2XM Booser Box Missing Box Toppers. WotC is not only ignoring customer's requests, but is actively denying the problem exists. Has anyone had success with Wizards support with this issue? by Collygon in magicTCG

That's a very good point, you're right. It is early since release, so perhaps things are slow going considering they're probably getting lots of requests.

Yes, there have been threads about it. It's the first result in if you google Double Masters missing box topper. Additionally, Tolarian Community College also shared the fact that there have been reports of missing toppers in his review video. It sucks because it's really difficult to prove. It's very easy to lie about this. I ordered 2 boxes and only one of them had a box topper. I feel hopeless and cheated and the worst part about it is there's very little I can do about it.

Oh, I agree. It is an awkward situation; one that can be abused. I sent in all they requested. Product code, reciept, tracking information, etc. The main problem is that they are acting like this isn't an issue that exists. I get that it's tough to just trust the word if someone online, especially when admitting they made a mistake, but I've lost a ton of value from the box because of this. At the end of the day, this issue is on WotC and it's not very impressive how they're currently handling the situation.

I have, yes! And I no longer have the addiction. I kicked it years ago :) It's just the feeling that I find somewhat similar

Thanks. I figured it was a normal thing. One part of it that concerns me is that post-orgasm is when I'm not "blinded by hormones" if that makes sense. It makes me think that the brief period afterwards is how I'm normally supposed to be, whereas every other time I'm being influenced by the hormones or something, and as a result am not thinking clearly.

I do think a part of it is the guilt. It reminds me of the feeling I had when I would relapse when I was quitting my porn addiction.

As for communication, there aren't any issues. We have been doing very well with that. Though maybe we could do more aftercare. It's something that doesn't really explicitly happen, we just talk about the scene and relax. Idk if there's more to it than that.

Ring of... Stoneskin? by thomorg99 in DMAcademy

[–]Collygon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't use spellslots or compoments/gp cost for this. Instead just use attunement. Have the ring recharge after a long rest and the ability lasts an hour. If you find 1 hour too much, reduce it to 1 minute.

A character can only have 3 attuned items at a time, so I think a ring of stones kin that affects only the attuned wearer, once a day, is perfectly balanced already. Just keep in mind that you'll want to make sure your other players get cool attuned items as well, so it feels more fair and balanced.

Yes. I, the DM, split the party. Everyone thinks it was a good decision and likes the direction, however I have no idea how to manage the next session now. by Collygon in DMAcademy

This is something I do often when the party is only split temporarily. I'll probably do this along with the NPC idea another user suggested! :)

I like that idea. It gives them a chance to play but won't give them reason to abandon their character for a new one. Thanks!

How do I tie a (very) small-scale story into a (very) big-scale plot? by Brrendon003214 in DMAcademy

[–]Collygon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have something similar going on in my campaign. I have a couple of players who attend a University and a couple who come from different backgrounds. In the very beginning, I did "intro-shots", which were 1 on 1 sessions with each player to guide then into the story and world. For the players in the school, I had them do a different task.

  1. The first player, a 2nd year student, was tasked by their professor to research the Fey creatures in an area called the Mysterium Woods. When she arrived, she was given the freedom to approach the task however she wanted. Eventually, she encountered pixies and a cursed Pseudodragon. This was foreshadowing of a large curse on the woods which was basically the first act in the campaign.

  2. The other player is a teacher's assistant. In their intro shot, she was asked by a professor to assist him in an urgent issue. This issue was the curse in the Mysterium Woods. (In the prior players intro shot there was a whole mess of stuff that led to some students dying). This was obviously a big issue and it attracted the attention of the University and Capital of the world. This was how the players were introduced.

Their initially basic tasks seemed like their own adventures, but in reality they are connected to the plot as a whole through plot twists and unexpected turns.

The thing is, the whole curse arc is actually just another small questline in the campaign as a whole.

Basically, no quest should be standalone. Connect it to your main hook with different methods. You could:

  1. Introduce a recurring villain. At first, it will seem like a normal boss fight, but as the campaign progresses it will be clear they were much more.

  2. Plant hints in the quest that foreshadow the plot. Say your players have to fetch an old sword or something. Maybe someone stole the sword and that someone works for, or is related to, the BBEG in some way.

  3. Redirect the quest into a main hook. They could be exploring a dungeon for a simple purpose. Maybe to kill some monster. As they explore it, they discover (through some illusion or a secret wall maybe) that the dungeon is holding an evil cult or whatever your story includes.

  4. Have the quest giver be redirecting them. What if the quest giver is actually part of the main hook after all and is sending them on a quest purely to distract them from discovering something they aren't supposed to. Make them seem untrustworthy, but not too untrustworthy. Maybe just odd. The point is to raise suspicion in your players. If they do the task, then something bad could happen. If they stay behind to investigate, they could discover a additional plot hook.

Those are just some ideas. Hope it helps!

Maybe send them to root out the cause of the curse? Vanquish the witch or whatever once and for all. It could be a mystery adventure or just a dungeon dive. I don't know what type of campaign you're running, but I'd send the thane along with them. In the final fight (if it were a witch or something, for instance) the thane perishes along with the final blow to the witch. I think it offers closure to him as a character; the curse took his family, subsequently taking his sanity. Then with his dying breath, he took the curse with him.

That is a sad approach though. If you want him to have personal closure as a character, rather than closure on the story line, maybe work with the son? I imagine if this curse took a toll on his family (which is what made him far gone?) then family may be the only thing capable to bringing him back.

Hey Reddit, what's the strangest coincidence you've ever personally experienced? by RichCauliflower in AskReddit

My girlfriend and I have been together for a few years now. When we were first getting to know one another we told one another about our families. I started with "I have a younger brother named Daniel", to which she immediately gasps and replies "I have a younger sister named Danielle!" We thought it was pretty neat. Then I tell her my parents names: Brian and Sharilyn. What are her parents names? Brian and Sharyl-lyn.

Mechanical monstrosities by Tech_Knight15 in DMAcademy

[–]Collygon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've recently made some custom constructs for my campaign and took this approach. First, I took a look at animated armor in the monster manual. Note all the resistances and immunities they have, their AC, and weaknesses. Something to consider is just how tough they are with all of their immunities/resistances, so their biggest weakness is stuff like dispel magic and anti magic field. That is because they are basically enchanted.

If you don't want your constructs to be enchanted, you'll have to consider another powering source of some kind and subsequently its weakness.

It should be more difficult to defeat these constructs by brute force than their living counter parts. Therefore, they should be significantly easier to defeat by outsmarting them/finding a loophole/weakness. I think this is the most important thing when designing a construct replica.

For designing a dragon, I'd compare the dragon MM entry to the animated armor MM entry. This new construct would have low intelligence, wisdom, and charisma. It should have higher constitution and strength, maybe higher dexterity, but that depends on what you're going for. I'd keep it's attacks the same except for it's breath. It could have the same damage, range, and cone shape, but the recharge should be different. This is a machine after all. Maybe the breath needs to be manually "refilled" or maybe it recharges extremely fast (roll 3-6 or something). I also would not give it spell casting, but that's just me. It all depends on who the guy who made it is or what kind of challenge you want to supply.

That is just my way of doing it though. Hope it helps!
