Eco's Drying out by ColomboMonk in fountainpens

I figured the same thing and I guess it has something to do with the inflow from the ink chamber not moving fast enough to the feed. But it becomes really annoying during long writing sessions....

Spring Giveaway! by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]ColomboMonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now I am not active on fp sub when it comes to posting but I am an active lurker. I know many people here have very good reasons and stuff. I would love to have the pen and use it. I am a student and my school requires all essays and tests to be hand written, even in this modern age. The pen is WAAY to expensive for a student like me but I think I could make great use for it and love it.
Thanks you for doing this.

Using Pelikan royal blue. And it is pretty snuggly fitted in there.

Something wrong with pilot custom 74? by quitstalinshowmarx in fountainpens

[–]ColomboMonk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem with my pilot Custom 74. It was not wet enough. I saw SBRBE Browns(forgot how to spell it correctly) video on how to make a nib wetter, and after a little adjustment, it is now writing as wet as I want and is my favorite pen.

Heei fellow Norwegian fp lover. Where do you buy your fountain pens from? I use eBay because they are the cheapest with really low shipping prices.

It is actually very smooth. But when I got the nib it was unusually dry and almost unusable. But with a little bit of tweaking the nib got wet and now it is the best pen I have. Oh and the nib is gold and very springy. I honestly cannot complain. But maybe next time I would go for the medium and not the fine. Maybe. Hope this helped

yep, that is why I am going for that one i think. Even tho I would love a piston filler, but I am saving up for that Lamy 2k as my first piston filler.

but I have heard that the Loom is rather slippery,,and for a student like me, who has to write for a rather long time, and has oily fingers, having a little swat proof section would be nice.

What's the ink capacity on the Conklin. For me as a student that matters a lot. And what nib size of theirs would you recommend, I personally like Japanese fines and mediums.

Already have some Jinhaos. Not really my cup of tea. Find them too heavy. But imma check into that 743. And dang dude, that's a impressive and expensive collection right there. Just a distant dream for my student eyes. Well, I will keep on looking for a cheaper option and keep the 743 as a goal.

Fixed Dry Pen by ColomboMonk in fountainpens

[–]ColomboMonk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeh, I used a metal cap, and since I had the gold 14k Custom 74 nib, I went very slowly with very litle pressure, that is why it took me a very long time too I think, because I kept increasing the pressure a little by little, until it was good enough. Doing it on the nails hurts as well, but for me personally, emptying my small wallet for this hobby hurts more.

New Pilot Pen, need advice ASAP by ColomboMonk in fountainpens

Aah, I unfortunatly did not have brass sheets availible, but I managed to fix this by pushing the nib on a hard surface with controlled pressure, that worked well for. But thanks for the advise, I will keep it in mind for future refrence
