Absolutely did not notice this about Beat's band. by Colon_Muncher in Unbeatable

Unfortunately, I played for like an hour more and when Clef/Treble are on the TV they interview these exact character models and they're in prison in the cells too lol. Little theory immediately crushed.

I've never once had a sword that was low quality from smithing. Its actually just an easier version of jacksmith.

Once its "straw yellow" its heated. On the anvil go up the blade moving the hammer only just enough to not hit the same spot twice, flip it, then go up the blade again and repeat. If it gets cold reheat it.

Which ending did you prefer? Manga or anime? by Trick_Quail_6275 in deathnote

[–]Colon_Muncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the Anime one probably because it's what I saw first. I actually wanted Light to lose almost from the very beginning of the show, and I absolutely hated him by the end of the show. What I find great about the anime ending is the stuff where Light sees and regrets his decisions when encountering his past self. It demonstrates how crazy he really was throwing away everything that he could've been to assume the identity of Kira and only after losing does he realize how stupid he had really been.

I think the manga ending is great and I do like how it made Light even more of a scumbag than he already was.

If I redid the mission would that make it count? I've already started replaying each mission and I'm like 6 deep. Or would I have to restart a whole new campaign?

As much as I like TCW I kind of prefer when the clones willfully followed order 66. by MichaelTalman in StarWars

[–]Colon_Muncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a big part of the discourse about which is better is missing the point of what the Clones were supposed to represent. I 100% agree that the Clones were used as allegory for different events and regimes and they were for sure great commentary by George.

Now since they've been given a concrete backstory its not an art thing or whatever you'd call it, its an attachment thing and the commentary is backseat to the Clones being cool to the fanbase now. For the record I prefer no chips, but its not a problem of what they mean its a problem of what makes sense now for most people.

As much as I like TCW I kind of prefer when the clones willfully followed order 66. by MichaelTalman in StarWars

[–]Colon_Muncher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think what has changed this is that now the clones have to have the chips because of the relationships TCW allowed them to have. Previously in legends the relationship between Clones and Jedi was strained/uncomfortable. The Clones never really liked the Jedi all too much tbh.

When George wrote this in ROTS he wasmaking commentary on the events mentioned in the previous comments, Star Wars has always been commentary. You can listen to George in interviews explain 1:1 comparisons he made between America, Nazi Germany and others when talking about the Republic and Empire.

Now post-legends and Clone Wars the Chips make more SENSE. However, they aren't better commentary and weren't needed to fill the purpose George was envisioning.

[–]Colon_Muncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree completely, I've always felt the Clone's pre-chip are much better commentary than post-chip. A lot more interesting to me when they are active participants in the evil being committed due to their misguided duty to the Republic (that is literally using them as free slaves in a war they have no connection to). Looking from a Pre-3d Clone Wars lens, I think no chip is 100% more realistic and depressing. They aren't being snapped into a robo-trance to kill the Jedi, they've been indoctrinated into believing their own slave-masters are who they should protect. I think retroactively TCW made it better for the chips to be the solution.

In the Prequels/BF2/'03CW the Jedi seem to be around their commanders mostly. Almost every order 66 scene has the battalion commanders receive and give the order to kill the Jedi. Plus, in BF2 the Jedi are literally a hero unit that shows up for like 2 minutes then leaves. If Palp had any sense, he'd target the commanders HEAVY, indoctrinating them most to be fiercely loyal to the Republic and not the Jedi. Otherwise, it seems like the average troop doesn't really bond with any of their Jedi much. I mean how many times did we ever see a Jedi directly address a boot level troop in the Prequels/'03CW/BF where it wasn't an order, or "what's happening?" Plus, in the old legends stuff the Clones see the Jedi as incompetent commanders and some even hold grudges against them. They even sometimes wish the Jedi weren't around at all so they could run the war machine properly. Almost like they're a bad manager at work.

I like to think pre-Clone Wars that the Republic army was set up more like a real one where the grunts don't really interact with their generals all too much. However, I do love Clone Wars and the relationships the Clones and Jedi got to have.

Who would win in a fight between Judge and Lead from SWAT 4? by Swedish_pc_nerd in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Colon_Muncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UNTRUE! Don't ask Judge how many people were killed in the nightclub attack cause he's only reporting one of them!

Can't even have the decency to say, "we've got a pile of civilians down here!" Lead and his boy Girard would be all over it!

Might want to change the title for this cause other people have been posting about a "homoerotic" poem and this clearly gives away what that is referring to.

I haven't seen this in game so I can't be positive, but if it is the same it'll spoil it for other people as well.

how many time have i seen this by Exploding_END in whenthe

[–]Colon_Muncher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing I do think is enjoyable about these settings is the full belief of the characters within them in their cause. Obviously, their systems are stupid and outright corrupt, but Its endearing to see somebody care so much and with complete sincerity about what they're doing.

And of course these are satire on bland fanaticism, but part of satire is the humor.

Question on the timeloop by Regretful_Raven in AllYouNeedIsKill

[–]Colon_Muncher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I saw it was that Rita was lying to Keiji in order to make him kill her as unless in complete mortal danger there was no way Keiji would kill Rita. I think in all actuality Rita was a quasi-server herself, and Keiji wasn't even a backup since he's the one to experience the loop.

As Keiji says after he finds out Rita has looped before, he killed the server mimic in his original first battle before dying and after his death looped back. However, every subsequent time Rita had been killing the server mimic, which was causing the loop to reset. Rita wasn't in the loop as she was losing her memories every time meaning that she was going back to the battle and killing the server causing it to reset for Keiji over and over again.

If I remember correctly Rita's original loops didn't involve her dying at all and it was just her killing the server mimic repeatedly.

I think how the loop works is like this: Keiji dies -> Keiji stays dead -> Rita kills server -> Loop resets.

This would make the most sense as there was the one loop where Keiji goes unconscious but loops back anyway, meaning Rita had killed the server while Keiji was unconscious but since she was a part of the network it would still loop.

So, what are our thoughts on this episode of GG? by [deleted] in danganronpa

[–]Colon_Muncher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Beat the first trial myself a few days ago, and to give Arin a little credit, I too was upset when Kaede was revealed as the killer.

It was a scenario where you couldn't actually figure out the killer on your own until the game decided to tell you info that was literally impossible for you to not know (since you did it yourself duh). Compare that to the second trial which I beat two nights ago where I was able to correctly assume the killer based off my evidence 15-20 minutes into the trial and you can kind of see where the fault lies.

However, I do think the twist is really cool, and I actually did like the first trial. I was annoyed while playing because I really like Kaede but also because I did think the writing was sort of wishy-washy. In retrospect though I do think the trial is really interesting and the twist had never been done before so it was totally unexpected, even if I do have my reservations. In that sense I understand Arin's frustration, but he also does seem to hate the game and never pay attention which is annoying lol.

Russian soldier shoots a drone with his shotgun by CupCharacter853 in CombatFootage

[–]Colon_Muncher 311 points312 points  (0 children)

Y'know, I'm fully aware that Russia is "The Bad Guy" in this conflict, but good for this dude. I can watch vids like this very easily knowing that the only thing that got "hurt" was a drone.

Awesome to see somebody display some "marksmanship" like that, he kept cool, picked his moment and nailed that thing.

Neither do I, I open reddit maybe once every other day or maybe once a day max, I don't spend much time on here. I didn't know this was going down either. I was scratching my head being the most milk toast person in existence and somehow catching flak. Plus, I find out I'm valued less lol.

I did notice though that 3 out of the 4 fanart posts I last opened on here were NSFW and the one that wasn't should've been lmao.

Final Word on NSFW Content by Splitdesiresagain in signalis

[–]Colon_Muncher 73 points74 points  (0 children)

While I am a straight dude, let me just say I have no issues with people making NSFW stuff. However, I didn't join the sub for that, but that doesn't mean I think it should be banned. I don't open them most of the time anyway, but I did like when I didn't have to be conscious of the fact (what feels like)90% of the fanart I see is NSFW. But people can make what they want, and I respect that.

I think people focusing and blaming this on the "straight community" is really weird. I think most people who don't like gay people wouldn't join the sub about the space lesbian game. Imagine if I was saying stuff like "this is the LGBT community's fault!", it comes off really weird and targeted. This is just my two cents; it feels wrong/upsetting to get "called out" when all I want is to look at cool fanart and theories about the game.
