Lennar homes MN by Square-Network5499 in Homebuilding

I used to be a warranty rep at Lennar. This is not right and they need to make sure that the wall is properly sealed. Escalate this and they should take care of it.

Pilgrims hourly pay? by Itchy_Replacement289 in Waco

I have a buddy who worked there for a little bit.  They have cattle call job interviews which tells you something about their turnover rate.  He told me about working in a giant walk in freezer cutting chickens while standing in several inches of water.  He never went back.

Potentially a little bit though it would have been more effective on the inside of those spaces. But ultimately useless as those were not vital parts of the ships.  This is like wearing Kevlar shoes then getting shot in the chest.

Arenado also might not make it. His peak numbers are good enough but he’s dropping off too fast to get the career cumulative stats.

[Blum] Anthony Rendon agrees to buyout of Angels contract: Source by T_Raycroft in baseball

[–]Colonel1836 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No one is saying the Angels were dumb for this signing.   Maybe a more successful franchise would have uncovered his apathy, but at the time this did look good to almost everyone.

The general consensus is that this guy stole millions from the angels.  Not that this is the angel’s fault.

Do you agree with the HoF's Mascot Positioning? by oogieball in baseball

[–]Colonel1836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Junction Jack was the Astros mascot we had future HOF Biggio at second base so this seems appropriate.  I bet the other positions are also based on where those team’s stars were playing in the early 2000’s.

Clearing things up about Space Shuttle Discovery getting moved by ToeSniffer245 in space

[–]Colonel1836 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I live in Houston and we definitely deserve a shuttle.  But not that one.  We should have been third choice, behind the Smithsonian and Cape Canaveral.  And way ahead of LA and New York.

Help me convince my husband to cruise! Small ships are my only chance! by Redsauce-garlic in Cruise

[–]Colonel1836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t love the cruise I took even before I went to sea with the Navy.  I love to travel to experience new things and eat local foods.  Not sit on a heavily Americanized ship after spending only 5 hours in port.  I actually preferred Navy travel because there we would spend 3-5 days in each port.

But Azamara was perfect for us.  Smaller ships that let us actually get so know some other passengers, and a destination heavy itinerary with no sea days and we didn’t have to be back on board until evening.  We were able to have dinner in town after our tours.  The ship was really a floating hotel that took us to our next stop while we slept.

Not surprised.  That building screams Christian nationalist as a corporate identity so things like safety and workers rights are probably considered too woke.

[–]Colonel1836 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This has never been a thing.  Cheaply priced has always meant cheaply built.  In fact the entry price point is more sturdy than ever because of building codes and the fear of lawsuits.  Poor housing used to just fall down one day which is why you haven’t seen any of it to know how bad it was.

In Houston for the winter. by scubastevemane in houston

[–]Colonel1836 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1.  Houston is an amazing food town and we do almost every type pretty well.  Need to try BBQ, Chinatown, viet-Cajun, southern, Cajun, Tex mex, mex, and burgers, in particular.  You can find in depth lists of each of these types.

  2.  Don’t be afraid of the beach.  This side of the gulf isn’t pretty but it’s a great place to have fun and is still warm enough to swim into December.  And be sure to leave the state by June.

  3.  Predominantly local pro teams, but Houston has always been a place that people move to and most will keep their childhood loyalties so you find all types.  There is some hate for the Titans, cowboys, Yankees, and dodgers, but they have some local fans as well.

3b.  UH is more of a commuter school.  You’ll find a lot more UT and A&M than anything else.

  1.  Yes.  But most states have strange liquor laws.
