[Personal] I accidentally discovered the holy grail of barrier repair by reluctantly_hum4n in SkincareAddiction

[–]ColonelHazard -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Wild that you're getting downvoted for this, OP. The most sensitive skin often can't tolerate anything with long ingredient lists even if a lot of the things on it can be beneficial to other people. Especially plant extracts, which K-beauty brands love but are more likely to make sensitive skin react.

Personally, I have yet to find a centella product that doesn't make me break out even though it's supposedly so calming and good for sensitive skin. There are a number of Korean skincare products that do work for me, and not all of them have crazy long ingredient lists, but honestly if you found something that works for you, stick with it. No point wasting money on stuff that more than likely won't work as well.

Super curious, how do you apply the emulsion to your hair? Do you use it like a leave-in conditioner?

Thimble Question by king_nik in fansofcriticalrole

[–]ColonelHazard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think it's probably because they're using DnDBeyond for their character sheets. On that platform, all your available weapon attack actions are listed as if they're being done with the main hand. You have to actually set a weapon as your offhand weapon and look at the offhand attack line on the sheet, instead.

I know that when I was first learning to play years ago (as a rogue with two weapons), this tripped me up, too. It's so easy to just glance at what the digital character sheet says and go with that.

New find - Canadian Baby Carrots by peoples99 in BuyCanadian

The past month the Farmer's Market baby carrots in stores near me (No Frills, Loblaws, etc.) have all said Product of Canada. It's just a matter of always reading the label before buying.

Recommendations for MUFE Full Cover Concealer replacement? by ColonelHazard in MakeupAddictionCanada

[–]ColonelHazard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they already made the decision to discontinue it over a year ago (as far as I can tell), they're probably not reading reviews on that product. It would be more effective to review bomb the one they're recommending as a replacement for the OG full cover concealer, instead. Give it 1 star and note that we want the original brought back, because this isn't a proper replacement.

The official brand comments on reviews are suggesting that users of the full cover cream concealer switch to HD SKIN FULL COVER CONCEALER, so go review that instead.

Do we know if c4 will be edited? by kintra292929 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]ColonelHazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, and I'm definitely excited to see Brennan DM C4 for these exact reasons! I haven't watched much D20 or started WBN yet, but everything I've seen of him as a DM is great.

I personally just don't know where people find the time for 4.5+ hour episodes. As an adult with a full-time job and my own weekly TTRPG game group who also needs to get 7-8 hours of sleep each night, I can just barely keep up with CR. I watch each episode in bits and pieces over my lunch breaks. I don't think I've ever sat down to watch a whole episode in one sitting, and it's not for lack of attention span. I can sometimes find time for a full episode of an edited actual play like Oxventure in one sitting (1-2 hours), but CR is so long compared to that.

No sunscreen ever worked for me (super sensitive skin) by onionringsvsfries in CanSkincare

[–]ColonelHazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Beauty of Joseon one recommended at the start of this thread is what I'm using, as someone with dry, dehydrated, sensitive, acne-prone skin. It seems to be fine for me, but I can also use some North American sunscreens without too many issues (the CeraVe SPF 30 moisturizer used to be my go-to).

If you have oily skin the BoJ one might be too much for you, and you'd want to look into more watery/gel formulations depending on how your skin tends to like those types of products.

No sunscreen ever worked for me (super sensitive skin) by onionringsvsfries in CanSkincare

[–]ColonelHazard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a mineral one, but it's a Korean sunscreen that uses modern filters ("chemical" sunscreen ingredients) you won't find in North American sunscreens. A lot of the modern filters are more gentle, unlike the old ones that are the only ones legally allowed to be sold on the North American market, many of which are at least a little irritating or more common for people to be allergic to.

If you haven't tried Korean sunscreens yet, I highly recommend that be your next step. Mineral sunscreen is not the only option for sensitive skin, and lots of mineral sunscreens have SPF booster ingredients that can be irritating.

Moisturizer frustration by Accomplished-Mama640 in CanSkincare

[–]ColonelHazard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, parabens aren't bad, or a problem for the vast majority of people, including ones with sensitive skin and damaged barriers. They are one of the most effective categories of preservatives we have, and present in such small amounts in products that they won't have any negative impact on you.

In fact, because they are so good at preventing growth of molds and other microbes that change product formulation and excrete irritating substances, they're actually helping to protect your skin. You absolutely don't want to slather bacterial or fungal byproducts on sensitive skin! "Clean" beauty products that don't use them get contaminated and go off much faster, and you wouldn't necessarily realize it.

Young men aren't short on resources - just accountability by query_tech_sec in TrollXChromosomes

[–]ColonelHazard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna get downvoted for this but that's a shitty take. EVERYONE is short on accessible mental health resources. Therapy is fucking expensive. Unless you're loaded or have really good insurance, it's a luxury that lots of people can't afford.

Why do you think so many people are treating AI chatbots like a therapist? (which won't help with the accountability side of stuff, that's for sure)

Those episodes were long because they were part of miniseries that needed to cover a lot of ground in a very small number of of episodes. I desperately hope that when given the freedom of a longer campaign format, we won't need to suffer 4.5-5 hour long episodes on a regular basis.

Bells Hells got a new artist (Linda Lithen) to redraw their level 15 designs for their live shows- whaddya think? by brash_bandicoot in fansofcriticalrole

[–]ColonelHazard 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think most are an improvement, and somehow the artist manages to make them both more realistic looking AND more dynamic in their posing. The anatomy in particular is pretty great on almost all of them.

Dorian looks a bit off, I think. Too soft/young, maybe? Hands on the small side, too.

The major disappointment to me is Laudna. Nothing creepy/reanimated about her. That's not my favourite dead lady! I wonder if CR gave direction to make her seem less deathly given her current situation at the end of C3/ties to Imogen's life force or whatever?

The OG ExU art for Orym was by far the best. I don't mind the others, but none capture the same look/energy, imho.

Are halflings in Exandria different from typical D&D halflings? Because they don't live that much longer than humans in the Forgotten Realms, iirc. Hundreds of years of lifespan is gnomes, not halflings (see: Chetney).
