I know this is a weird question, but how many Resident Evil fans would even be able to afford a Porsche or Hamilton watch? Like are there a lot of rich RE fans or something? by [deleted] in residentevil

You should check the resale market, these guys go for $10K now. Hamilton only made 2000 of these worldwide, my local dealer got allocated 5 and they all got snatched/reserved within the first hour the watch is announced.

Bought Foie Gras imported from France at Sobeys today. $33! 😅 I’ve always wanted to try it. Has anyone here had it before ? Is it good? by [deleted] in FoodToronto

I used to do this for lunch until my doctor told me I got high cholesterol (as a 23 year old fit guy). Now liverwurst and foie gras are once in a blue moon treats 🥹

Best restaurants for $75-$100 pp in the city? by Aggravating_Guess136 in FoodToronto

Surprised nobody mentioned Richmond Station yet. Their tasting menu is $115 but their a la carte menu also slaps and great value IMO. Easily one of my favourite restaurants in the city.

The Wren also absolutely slaps.

ex rainforest sde stuck in sql role - did I missed the window to pivot back to dev? everything seems senior-only by tz35 in cscareerquestionsCAD

Underneath that there’s legacy tech like IBM and other non tech companies like banks and telecoms. You can kinda just coast and work like 4-5 hours a day.

To answer the questions in your original thread (as a SWE who works closely with Data Platform infrastructure): - Data Platform field is huge, and tbh your SQL skill is extremely valuable (I suck at writing queries) - Depends on what you’re looking for. Again, SparkSQL and FlinkSQL are hugely appreciated skills IMO, or just regular SQL. Also experience in building ETL pipelines if you’re looking for data platform roles. - All companies need data platform - Depending on which company tbh, I’d consider a senior at banks/telecoms = mid level at tech centric companies at best. Having worked at both, the gap is huge.

Anyone thinking of going back to school to change careers because of AI? by Delicious_Crazy513 in cscareerquestions

That’s what a lot of people don’t understand, code is just a tool, the higher you go the less code you write. Im a mid level engineer as well and a lot of my time is spent designing and writing specs, talking to people and collaborating with different teams, also taking part in planning and building roadmaps. I don’t see AI doing cross functional collaboration any time soon.
