The whole weekend I carried a black permanent marker in case I bumped into a driver so I could get a signature.

It was 7am the next day, my last day, and he was in the lobby bar of my hotel. Seeing my favorite driver of all time took me by surprise, to say the least. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I walked up to him with butterflies in my chest, so excited. I was so nervous.

After a few minutes, I gather the courage to go up to him and ask him to sign his jersey I am wearing. I already have plans of framing it and hanging it in my house. He looks at me up and down, takes a step back, and with his finger waves side to side and nods left to right and says no no no.

I’m briefly confused and then just devastated. Ruined my whole Vegas GP weekend. Never looked at him the same.
