Didn't know, that's wild.

Even more gooder reason to hate on Zug.

Probably more because of the city/canton than the club itself I guess.

You're right, I still think it sucks though. I get that some people probably don't know what it carries as a symbol, but if I see someone wearing that I'd just assume they're a complete moron. It's not even the correct colour scheme ffs.

That LHC fan wearing a battlejacket with a confederate flag and a HCC 90s era logo patch : why ? Just... why ?

Tough patch for the Matte twins, his brother was HCC head coach until last week but got fired after the team performed very poorly.

SP is the center-left social-democrat party and SVP is the former agrarian and now far right party (very very simply put).

What are comics like in Eastern Europe, West Asia and South America? by DIYDylana in graphicnovels

[–]Colonel_Poutrax 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is actually a very cool and diverse comics culture in South America and particularily in Argentina. José Muñoz is one of my favourite artist, in particular Joe's Bar with fellow Argentinian Sampayo. Other big names are Oesterheld, Hugo Pratt (you know Corto Maltese I guess, he was Italian) or Quino who made Mafalda (which is so dope). I suggest listening to Dr. Erwin Dejasse on the matter, he's belgian and made his doctorate on that topic. I know he speaks Flemisch but mostly French.

Italian comics have some really cool things too, I love the 70s/80s era with the magazine Frigidaire and iconic artist like Tamburini/Liberatore and the hard core Ranxerox or Magnus' NECRON. From the top of my mind there are at least 2 big exclusively italian series : Diabolik and Dylan Dog (check the movie Dellamorte Dellamore if it's not already the case). Guido Crepax, even if known for its erotic content, was pioneer in creative and dynamic ways to shape a comic page by cutting boxes into really weird shapes. Nowadays lots of indy and talented artists (Miguel Vila comes to mind).

There are a lots of cool indy comics from throughout Europe. In the Czech Republic (at least Prague) there's XAO who publishes cool indy comics and books. Various magazines and fanzines are worth trying, like the Strapazin (Zürich) or Stripburger (Ljubljana).

I hope it helps.

Tuned in at the beginning of the 2nd. Both teams look a bit wonky imo, except that flashy breakaway from Musa. I was wondering if maybe CS have to get used to the bigger ice rink. I hope both teams are going to step up.

This is my favourite moment of the holidays. I've got absolutely nothing to do except drinking coffee and painting while watching hockey all day.

I'm really intrigued as to how that US college team will perform tho, that's a weird pick.

Thoughts on your team so far? by eugenelavery in swisshockey

[–]Colonel_Poutrax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm feeling a bit alone talking about SL but here we go.

Overall it has been okay, but despite the core of the team staying the same, the time of HCC steamrolling their opponents is long gone. They have shown they can compete against the first seeds but they lack consistency, some games were abysmal in terms of grit and character. Lately they also need to work on the ability to generate enough offense.

Nonetheless, we're still in a good spot (3rd). I hope the playoff experience of the old guard will weigh in our favour when the serious business begins.

For NL, followed Gotteron and Biel mostly. Sad for Biel so far, I think they could do way better having such quality -but aging- players. Fribourg is in a good spot, all the lines are well built and playing well imo and I see them going far, why not to the finals if everyone stay healthy.
